Because of the five kinds of excellence, others cannot understand it. The meaning of the intermediate object is said to be omniscient, which is also the word "again." The word "again" includes impermanence and so on, and emptiness. Why is it not included? Because "characteristics" and so on are mentioned. A characteristic is a unique self-nature. If that is indeed the case, then they are one way of being with each other, so it is not included, which is what is meant. In this way, in terms of the nature of the Dharma realm, impermanence and so on, and the emptiness of omniscience, because their respective self-natures have no self-nature. These are the same in nature with each other, so one should take form and so on, which are distinguished by the characteristic of non-characteristics, as objects of focus. If one clings to characteristics, what fault is there? If one clings to characteristics, then if one clings to one's own teachings, because one has not seen liberation for a long time, one will develop faith in the teachings of the ascetic, that is, the one called "constant follower," that is, one will not gain conviction in the path of non-characteristics, because clinging to characteristics is the same. That is what is meant. To illustrate this, "constant follower" and so on are mentioned. Here, because non-characteristic is the way to attain the path of the Tathagata, if one believes in the wisdom of omniscience, that is, if one believes in non-characteristic, then by generating a mind that especially believes, with dull faculties, one follows the path with faith, follows with faith, and enters with the wisdom of no-self of a person in one direction. After entering, later one will not cling to characteristics in form and so on, and for the practice of non-characteristic, joy and happiness arise for the wisdom of practice, and one will not truly see characteristics. The joy in it is the joy of the mind, that is, the mind. Happiness is extreme gentleness, that is, the body. Moreover, the community of monks who are liberated says that this is entered by relying on the first or second dhyana, which is free from worldly desires.

In what way should one take as an object? It is said, "consciousness," and so on. The consciousness that is being meditated upon, if it is clinging to the inner form of the four great elements, earth, water, fire, and wind, and the inner sources transformed from the four great elements, with inner emptiness, it is not truly seen, and it is called having characteristics, which is the remainder. If it is not clinging to the outer form of the four great elements, earth, water, fire, and wind, and the outer sources transformed from the four great elements, with outer emptiness, it is truly seen. The aggregation of both inner and outer forms, that is, with inner and outer emptiness. If one thinks that one can see things other than form, then it is said that consciousness is other than form, and so on. If that is the case, how can it be said that this person has entered the practice of Dharma? It is said, the categories of words, and so on. The categories of words themselves, that is to say, because of the difference of this place of yoga, abiding in the ground of practice with faith, therefore it is said that he is a follower of faith, but this is not realization. Because the follower of faith, for this omniscient wisdom without characteristics, because he has not realized suchness, he is merely following with faith because his faculties are not sharp. If he realizes suchness, then he has become a follower of the Dharma, so it is thought. Even if the faculties are dull, how does he have faith in this way? It is said, making the nature of Dharma the measure, he has faith. Due to the power of past habituation, if the non-deceptive nature of the Prajnaparamita is made the measure, then it is said that faith is without characteristics in this way. Therefore, he does not completely grasp with any sectarian views. He does not take any Dharma that should be taken as an object, nor does he grasp with any Dharma that should be taken, or abandon with any Dharma that should be abandoned, and there is no Dharma that takes existence as an object. For the time being, putting aside other views, he also does not presume to have attained Nirvana, because he has not realized suchness. Regarding this, this statement of the place of yoga is that, from the perspective of the nature of Dharma, the self-nature is negated, therefore he does not cling to form and so on as belonging to him.
