If the ground has no things, and no distinctions are made, it is as if it does not exist. If one completely distinguishes between oneness and multiplicity, if the nature of each is not distinguished, it is only non-existence. Therefore, it is the characteristic of existing by mutually excluding each other. What are the characteristics of existing by mutually excluding each other? Those, if one is not established and the other is not negated, are as if they do not exist. Therefore, they make it understood that there are no other aggregates, just like things and non-things. One and many also have the characteristic of existing by mutually excluding each other. Therefore, because there is no third, the essence is encompassed by one and many. Therefore, because the contradiction of the reason arises from what is to be established, where is there an opportunity for the faults mentioned earlier? If here, because it is only one aspect of the meaning of the pledge, is it not that the reason is not established? Because one and many are the nature of the distinction of essence, therefore, contrary to this, the thing to be established and the thing that establishes are also completely non-different. Therefore, if the thing to be established is not established, because it is the very nature that is non-different from it, the reason is also not established. However, if the reason is established, then at that time, the non-existence of the essence of things is also established. Because no one admits that what is separated from the self of one and many, such as a rabbit's horn, is the essence of a thing. If you say that, it is not true, because in this way, how the reason is established has already been widely shown. Even if it is established, if it is assumed that the way of establishing non-essence is the thing to be established, even so, because it is difficult to abandon attachment to things, in order to make the ignorant have certainty about the non-essence that pervades all things, in order to vigorously establish that all things can be called non-essence, one aspect of the pledge is not the reason. For example, what has become the characteristic of an object of focus does not exist in a non-object of focus, just like that, so it should not be argued. If, for the ignorant, the very non-existence of nature as the meaning of the term

If one temporarily clings to the idea that something needs to be established, then, in any statement, whatever is pervasive of self-nature, whether single or multiple, is contradictory, just as the falling of a tree causes the forest to fall. Because it is merely the contradiction of self-nature, at the time of what needs to be established, it is only one aspect of the meaning of the proposition. Two words of different natures, which contradict what needs to be pervaded and what is capable of pervading, are not synonyms. Even if they are not of the nature of synonyms, they are not one aspect of the meaning of the proposition, so what is this? Isn't the distinction of "ultimate truth" meaningless? Like this, the reasoning that does not deceive is the ultimate truth. If the wisdom born from the three characteristics of a sign is said to be a true word, then, since it is also of the nature of conventional truth, how can it be the ultimate truth? If one establishes all phenomena as without self-nature by its power, then by whom is it established? It is not reasonable to establish it by itself, because it is contradictory for oneself to act on oneself. It is also not established by another valid cognition, because this would lead to an infinite regress. If one establishes it by excluding only that wisdom, then it would not be established that all objects are selfless. If one says that, it is good, but since it is in accordance with the ultimate truth that is free from all elaboration, the wisdom spoken of before is the ultimate truth. Non-self-nature also comes from it, and it is not contradictory for oneself to act on oneself, because all phenomena of general characteristics are established as non-things, and the self-nature of that wisdom also belongs to the category of that general characteristic. For example, when the knowledge of impermanence arises for all phenomena from the reasons of existence and so on, it is like not being apart from oneself, so there is no dispute. If one does not examine with true birth and so on, which are free from superimposition, isn't it said that it is merely a word that lacks the self-nature of a uniquely pleasing thing? Because the self-nature of things is manifest, the non-self-nature that has become its self-nature is also...
