The term "is" refers to the kalpa being non-awakened, i.e., unseen. The meaning is the awakening that is not a kalpa, i.e., seeing. The phrase "because difference is not ascertained" means that since oneness of nature is established by valid cognition, on suchness, the measure of difference is not ascertained, so it is not different, and it is completely not a kalpa. The suchness of the Tathagata is the nature of the suchness of all dharmas, and the suchness of Subhuti is not like that either. How are these two suchnesses not different? If the suchness of the Tathagata is, etc., it is said like this. The term "not other" is a conjunction of words, used in the first position of a verb. That is to say, among the suchness of all dharmas, the suchness of the Tathagata is not other, then what is it? It is its nature, and similarly, the suchness of Subhuti is also its nature, it can be said like this. The phrase "this has not become the suchness of anything" means that all things are synonyms for suchness. What is the suchness of Subhuti, that is the suchness of all dharmas, connect it like this. The phrase "following the suchness that is not other" means that because it conforms to the suchness of the nature of self, suchness becomes following all dharmas. If it is the nature of suchness, how is it said to be following? Here it speaks of a certain one, etc., this is a conventional saying, but in the ultimate truth it is like illusion, so no thing can follow anything from here and become the same. The suchness of all dharmas is the three times, and the suchness of the Tathagata is naturally luminous, free from birth, so it is not like that, then how can these be the same? If the suchness of the Tathagata is not past, etc., it is said like this. Because it is preceded by birth

Since there is no destruction, it is not the past. Since it is free from future birth, it is not the future. Since it is not appropriate to obtain what already exists, it is not the present. Similarly, the Suchness of all dharmas, which means that because the Suchness like an illusion is the fully established measure, it is the same in all aspects. Or, even in the mundane, due to the distinction of differences in things, it can be speculated to be in three times. Even so, the Tathagata and the Suchness of all dharmas are not different, which is why it is said that the Suchness of the Tathagata is also so. Not only is it one's own Suchness, then what is it like? Subhuti, that is the Tathagata, also because of Suchness, follows Suchness, the Suchness of the Tathagata follows the Suchness of the past, etc., and the Suchness of the past, etc., also follows the Suchness of the Tathagata, for liberation, there is no difference. It should be known that through the distinction of each of the past, etc., and the overall collection, four explanations will arise. In brief, therefore, it is said, "The Suchness of the Venerable Subhuti," etc. The states of Bodhisattvas and Tathagatas, like this, are temporarily different natures, how could they be the non-different nature of Suchness and all dharmas? Some people think like this. World Honored One, becoming a Bodhisattva, etc., saying this means that this is Suchness, because it is always the same nature, so it is reasonable to say that this is Suchness, because it manifests enlightenment by being free from temporary defilements. Those things that are not the nature of one and many do not exist as the nature of ultimate truth, just like the nature of illusion, etc. The things spoken by oneself and others are also not the nature of one and many, which means that because the pervasive thing is invisible, it is like that.

It is said to be like the illusion of the departed. This reason is not unfounded, because the actions of sentient beings are necessarily accompanied by purpose, so the truly existing and effective things should be examined in detail. Otherwise, for those who seek meaningful actions, there is no point in examining meaningless things, so effective things should be acknowledged. Then, it should be examined whether it is a self-nature that distinguishes each other, or whether it becomes the self-nature of the knowable or the knower. If according to the first case, then will the atoms become a self-nature that sticks to each other? Or is it controlled by the power of many similar things, surrounded in a non-adhesive way, with intervals? Or surrounded without intervals, there are three cases. If according to the first case, if one and the other stick together from one direction, then it will become partial, thereby losing its identity, because the self-nature of the atoms is to stick to each other with others. If according to the case of sticking with all self-nature, when the eastern atom mixes with other atoms with all self-nature, then the others will also become like the east.
