The section is: Subhuti, all conditioned things are merely names and signs. Names are empty of names, and signs are empty of signs, therefore, Bodhisattvas Mahasattvas, practicing the conduct of Bodhisattvas, attain the knowledge of all aspects. Having attained the knowledge of all aspects, they turn the wheel of Dharma. Having turned the wheel of Dharma, they completely liberate sentient beings from the three vehicles. Regarding names and signs, birth, destruction, abiding, and change from abiding are not observed. This is called a general brief summary of the dualistic conceptualization of attachment. Question: World Honored One, do you say knowledge of all aspects, knowledge of all aspects? The World Honored One replied: Subhuti, I speak of knowledge of all aspects, knowledge of all aspects. Question: World Honored One, the Thus-Gone One spoke of all-knowingness, and briefly spoke of the knowledge of the aspects of the path, and the Thus-Gone One spoke of the knowledge of all aspects, then World Honored One, what is the difference between these three knowledges? What is the distinction? The World Honored One replied: Subhuti, the knowledge of all aspects belongs to the Thus-Gone Ones, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Buddhas. The knowledge of the aspects of the path belongs to the Bodhisattvas Mahasattvas. All-knowingness belongs to the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas. Subhuti asked: World Honored One, why is the knowledge of all aspects that of the Thus-Gone Ones, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Buddhas? The World Honored One replied: Subhuti, because the Thus-Gone One has understood those aspects, those characteristics, those signs by which the Dharmas are to be expressed, those aspects, those characteristics, those signs. Therefore, the knowledge of all aspects belongs to the Thus-Gone Ones, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Buddhas. This is called the deluded conceptualization of the knowledge of all aspects. Subhuti asked: World Honored One,

Venerable One, for what reason is the knowledge of paths the concern of Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas? The Blessed One said: Subhuti, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva should generate all paths, should know all paths, i.e., what is the path of a Sravaka, what is the path of a Pratyekabuddha, what is the path to Bodhi of a Bodhisattva; all those should be perfected, and without performing the actions of the path, one should not realize the limit of reality. Subhuti asked: Venerable One, again for what reason does a Bodhisattva not realize the limit of reality? The Blessed One said: Until vows are completely fulfilled, beings are not completely ripened, and Buddha-fields are not completely purified, until then, that Bodhisattva-Mahasattva does not realize the limit of reality. Therefore, knowing the aspects of the path is indeed the concern of Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas. This is called the complete bewilderment regarding the knowledge of paths, the conceptual elaboration. Subhuti asked: Venerable One, for what reason is omniscience the concern of Sravakas and Pratyekabuddhas? The Blessed One said: Subhuti, the term 'all' refers to these phenomena that are of the nature of internal and external. All of those are known by Sravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, but not by all paths, nor by all aspects. This is called the complete bewilderment regarding omniscience, the conceptual elaboration. Asked: Venerable One, what is it? Does a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva abide on the path and realize the limit of reality? The Blessed One said: No. Asked: Venerable One, then does he abide on what is not the path? The Blessed One said: No. Asked: Then does he abide on what is both the path and not the path? The Blessed One said: No. Asked: Venerable One, then does he abide on what is neither the path nor not the path? The Blessed One said: No. Asked: Venerable One, then how does a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva realize the limit of reality?
