Regarding the Great Emptiness, one does not fixate on calling it the Great Emptiness. Regarding the Ultimate Emptiness, one does not fixate on calling it the Ultimate Emptiness. Regarding the Conditioned Emptiness, one does not fixate on calling it the Conditioned Emptiness. Regarding the Unconditioned Emptiness, one does not fixate on calling it the Unconditioned Emptiness. Regarding the Emptiness that Transcends Extremes, one does not fixate on calling it the Emptiness that Transcends Extremes. Regarding the Emptiness of All Dharmas, one does not fixate on calling it the Emptiness of All Dharmas. Regarding the Emptiness of Self-Character, one does not fixate on calling it the Emptiness of Self-Character. That Bodhisattva Mahasattva, abiding in those fourteen emptinesses, does not fixate on form being empty or not empty. Feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness being empty or not empty, one does not fixate. The twelve sources, the eighteen elements, and dependent origination being empty or not empty, one does not fixate. All the Paramitas and all the Emptinesses, and the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment being empty or not empty, one does not fixate.

It is also like that. One does not observe the emptiness or non-emptiness of the conditioned realm. One observes the emptiness or non-emptiness of the unconditioned realm. When a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices this Prajnaparamita, whatever he gives as alms, whether it be food, drink, vehicles, clothing, flowers, garlands, incense, perfume, bedding, dwelling, livelihood, utensils, or human necessities, he does not truly see that it is giving. He does not see who is giving and to whom he is giving, therefore there is no occasion for a miserly mind or an attachment mind. Why is that? Because for a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who practices Prajnaparamita, from the initial generation of the mind to abiding in Bodhi, all those discriminations do not exist. Just as the Tathagata, Arhat, Samyak-sambuddha, having manifestly and completely awakened to unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment, does not have a miserly mind or an attachment mind, similarly, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who practices Prajnaparamita does not generate a miserly mind or an attachment mind. Therefore, this Prajnaparamita itself is the teacher of the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva. Those roots of virtue are also not dedicated to the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, but are made common with all sentient beings and dedicated to unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment. How does one dedicate in such a way that the three concepts of who is dedicating, what is being dedicated, and to where it is being dedicated are not involved? Thus one dedicates. Subhuti, in this way, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva abides in Prajnaparamita and is one who upholds the Paramita of Generosity. Asked: Blessed One, how does a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva abide in Prajnaparamita and uphold the Paramita of Morality? The Blessed One replied:

Pa. Subhuti, here, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, abiding in the Perfection of Wisdom, does not discern the opportunity for the Hearer's stage or the Solitary Buddha's stage. What is the reason for this? It is because, like this, he does not focus on the Hearer's stage or the Solitary Buddha's stage. He also does not focus on that mind, from the arising of the first mind onwards, until abiding in the essence of enlightenment, I have also abandoned killing. Furthermore, I also encourage others to abandon killing. I proclaim the virtues of abandoning killing. For others who have abandoned killing, I also proclaim their virtues and rejoice in agreement. I have also abandoned taking what is not given, sexual misconduct, lying, divisive speech, harsh speech, idle chatter, covetousness, malice, and wrong views. Furthermore, I also encourage others to abandon wrong views. I proclaim the virtues of abandoning wrong views. For others who have abandoned wrong views, I also proclaim their virtues and rejoice in agreement. If such discipline does not become attached to any Dharma of Hearers or Solitary Buddhas, what need is there to mention others? Those roots of virtue are also made common with all sentient beings and dedicated to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Just like that, without engaging in the three concepts of who dedicates, where to dedicate, and what to dedicate, one dedicates in this way. Subhuti, in this way, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, abiding in the Perfection of Wisdom, is one who fully upholds the Perfection of Discipline. The questioner said: Blessed One, how does a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, abiding in the Perfection of Wisdom, fully uphold the Perfection of Patience? The Blessed One replied: Subhuti, here, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, abiding in the Perfection of Wisdom, generates conforming patience, thinking thus: 'Regarding this, there is no Dharma that arises or ceases, appears or disintegrates, dies or transmigrates, reviles or scolds, reveals faults or
