The Peak Practice of the Path of Seeing. The Peak Practice of the Path of Seeing. Thus, the Bhagavan rejoices in the generation of the mind of enlightenment by the Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas who have newly entered the vehicle; rejoices in the generation of the mind of enlightenment by the Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas who have long practiced; rejoices in the generation of the mind of enlightenment by the irreversible Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas; rejoices in the generation of the mind of enlightenment by the Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas who are one birth away from enlightenment. If one rejoices, how much will the merit of that son or daughter of good family increase? Thus he asked. The Bhagavan said to the Lord of the Gods, Indra: Kausika, the world of the four great continents may be measured by the measure of the balance, but the merit of the generation of the mind possessed of rejoicing in them is immeasurable. Kausika, the thousandfold world, the two-thousandfold world, and the three-thousandfold great thousandfold world may be measured by the measure of the balance, but the merit of the generation of the mind possessed of rejoicing in them is immeasurable. Kausika, the great oceans of the three-thousandfold great thousandfold world, all the great masses of water in them, may be measured by the measure of a drop of water taken by dividing the tip of a hair into a hundred parts, but the merit of the generation of the mind possessed of rejoicing in them is immeasurable. After he had spoken thus, the Lord of the Gods, Indra, asked the Bhagavan: Bhagavan, those sentient beings who do not rejoice in the generation of the mind of enlightenment are blessed by the evil one. Bhagavan, those sentient beings who do not rejoice in the generation of the mind of enlightenment have become the retinue of the evil one. Bhagavan, those who do not rejoice in the generation of the mind of enlightenment

Those sentient beings have died and transmigrated from the realm of Mara. Why is that? Blessed One, those sentient beings who cultivate this mind of enlightenment and dedicate it to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment are destroying the realm of Mara. Whatever mind of enlightenment is generated towards unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, I rejoice in that. Those who have not abandoned the Buddha, have not abandoned the Dharma, and have not abandoned the Sangha, I rejoice in their mind of enlightenment. Having rejoiced, I dedicate it to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, just as it will not become a dualistic consciousness, nor will it become a non-dualistic consciousness, so I dedicate it. The Blessed One said: Kauśika, it is so, it is so, just as you have said. Kauśika, those who have rejoiced in these minds of enlightenment will quickly please the Tathāgatas, Arhats, perfectly and completely enlightened Buddhas, and having pleased them, they will not be discouraged. Therefore, those who possess the roots of virtue of a mind of enlightenment endowed with rejoicing, wherever they are born, will be served, will be honored, will be respected, will be offered to. They will never see an unpleasant form, they will never hear an unpleasant sound, they will never smell an unpleasant odor, they will never touch an unpleasant touch, they will never know an unpleasant dharma. They will never be separated from the Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, going from Buddha-field to Buddha-field, attending to and honoring those Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, and generating roots of virtue. Why is that? Kauśika, because in this way, those sons and daughters of good family, towards the Bodhisattva Mahāsattvas who have newly entered the Great Vehicle, immeasurable

Having rejoiced in the roots of virtue of those who are without ground and immeasurable, I dedicate them entirely to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. The roots of virtue of those who abide in the first ground, the roots of virtue of those who abide in the second ground, the roots of virtue of those who abide in the third ground, the roots of virtue of those who abide in the fourth ground, the roots of virtue of those who abide in the tenth ground, the roots of virtue of the bodhisattvas mahasattvas who are bound by one lifetime, I rejoice in those roots of virtue, and by the complete increase of those roots of virtue, for the sake of being close to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. Those are close to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment, for those, having manifestly and completely awakened to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment, will completely liberate countless, immeasurable, and limitless sentient beings from suffering. Kausika, in that way, therefore, a son or daughter of good family, having rejoiced in those roots of virtue of the bodhisattvas mahasattvas who have generated the first mind, should dedicate them to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment, just as it does not transfer to another mind, so it should be completely dedicated. Having rejoiced in those roots of virtue of the practitioners, the non-returning ones, and those who are bound by one lifetime, one should dedicate them entirely to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment, just as it does not transfer to another mind, so it should be completely dedicated, this is called the mind abiding everywhere. Having rejoiced in the roots of virtue of those non-returning ones and those who are bound by one lifetime, one should dedicate them entirely to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment, just as it does not become a dualistic consciousness, and does not become a non-dualistic consciousness, so it should be completely dedicated, this is called relying on the aspect of the apprehended, the first entering of conceptual thought. Then, the venerable Sariputra said this to the venerable Subhuti: Venerable Subhuti, is it only the Perfection of Wisdom?
