Thinking that there is no reviling or beating, from the first arising of the mind of enlightenment, until abiding in the essence of enlightenment, if all sentient beings come before you and revile and drive you away, or beat you with stones and tiles, or stab and cut you with weapons, you should think: Alas, the nature of phenomena is so wonderful, that in this dharma, there is no reviling or driving away, no stabbing or cutting, no beating or binding. And do not dedicate those roots of virtue to the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, but make them common to all sentient beings and dedicate them to the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Thus, how does one dedicate, to whom does one dedicate, and where does one dedicate, without engaging in the three concepts, thus one dedicates. Subhuti, in this way, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, abiding in the Perfection of Wisdom, completely upholds the Perfection of Patience. Asked: Blessed One, how does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, abiding in the Perfection of Wisdom, completely uphold the Perfection of Diligence? The Blessed One said: Subhuti, here, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, abiding in the Perfection of Wisdom, abides in the four legs of miraculous power, and possessing skillful means, generates diligence of body and mind. Going to one world, or a hundred worlds, or a thousand worlds, or between hundreds of thousands of billions of worlds, he teaches the Dharma to sentient beings and establishes them in the Perfection of Giving. He establishes them in the Perfection of Morality, the Perfection of Patience, the Perfection of Diligence, the Perfection of Meditation, and the Perfection of Wisdom. He establishes them in the four mindfulnesses. He establishes them in the eightfold noble path. He establishes them in the fruit of stream-entry. He establishes them in the fruit of once-returner, the fruit of non-returner, the state of Arhat, and solitary enlightenment.

Establishing thoroughly. Establishing thoroughly up to the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Furthermore, in no way should one thoroughly establish it in the realm of conditioned phenomena, nor should one thoroughly establish it in the realm of unconditioned phenomena. Thus, one should thoroughly establish it. Those roots of virtue should not be dedicated to the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. Having made them common with all sentient beings, one should dedicate them to the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. How does one dedicate them? One dedicates them in such a way that the three concepts of who dedicates, what is dedicated, and where it is dedicated do not enter. Subhuti, thus a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, abiding in the Prajnaparamita, upholds the Virya-paramita. He asked: Blessed One, how does a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, abiding in the Prajnaparamita, uphold the Dhyana-paramita? The Blessed One said: Subhuti, here, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, abiding in the Prajnaparamita, except for the Samadhi of the Tathagata, whether it is the Samadhi of the Shravakas, or the Samadhi of the Pratyekabuddhas, or even the Samadhi of the Bodhisattvas, he enters into all those Samadhis. Abiding in those Samadhis, he enters into and emerges from the eight liberations in accordance with and not in accordance with the proper order. What are the eight? Subhuti, here, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, one who has form sees forms, this is the first liberation. One who internally has no perception of form sees external forms, this is the second liberation. The belief in the beautiful, this is the third liberation. Completely transcending all forms of perception, with the perceptions of resistance ceasing, not attending to the perceptions of diversity, thinking 'space is infinite,' and dwelling in the sphere of infinite space, having closely cultivated it, this is the fourth liberation. Completely transcending the sphere of infinite space in all ways, consciousness...

“Infinite” thus, abiding in the sphere of infinite consciousness, this is the fifth liberation. In all those places, having completely transcended the sphere of infinite consciousness, because "there is nothing at all," abiding in the sphere of nothingness, this is the sixth liberation. He, in all places, having completely transcended the sphere of nothingness, abides in the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception, this is the seventh liberation. He, in all places, having completely transcended the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception, abides in the cessation of perception and feeling, this is the eighth liberation. Thus, in these eight liberations, one enters into and arises from samadhi in accordance with and not in accordance with the proper order. In the nine successive abidings of samadhi, one enters into and arises from samadhi in accordance with and not in accordance with the proper order. What are the nine? Subhuti, here, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, secluded from desire, secluded from the ground of sinful and unwholesome dharmas, with initial application and sustained application, born of seclusion, with joy and bliss, abides in the first dhyana. He, with the cessation of initial application and sustained application, with inner purification, because the mind becomes a single stream, without initial application and without sustained application, with joy and bliss born of samadhi, abides in the second dhyana. Because of detachment from joy, endowed with mindfulness and awareness, he abides in equanimity, experiencing bliss with the body, the noble ones say of him, "Mindful, experiencing bliss, he abides in equanimity," he abides in the third dhyana, which is without joy. He abandons bliss and abandons suffering, and because pleasure and displeasure have already ceased, there is neither pleasure nor suffering, he abides in the fourth dhyana, with equanimity and pure mindfulness. He, in all places, having completely transcended the perception of form, the perceptions of resistance have ceased, and because he does not attend to various perceptions
