completely dedicate it. How does one completely dedicate with the three kinds of wisdom? What does one completely dedicate? Where does one completely dedicate? One completely dedicates in such a way that one does not adhere to these. Subhuti, in this way, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, abiding in the perfection of patience, is one who completely upholds the perfection of diligence. The questioner said: Blessed One, how does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, abiding in the perfection of patience, completely uphold the perfection of meditation? The Blessed One replied: Subhuti, in this case, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, abiding in the perfection of patience, in this way, detached from desires, detached from sinful and unwholesome dharmas, with initial application and sustained application, dwells having attained the first dhyana, which is born of detachment and has joy and bliss. He dwells having attained the second dhyana. He dwells having attained the third dhyana. He dwells having attained the fourth dhyana. He dwells having attained up to the cessation of feeling and perception. Whatever mind and mental factors, endowed with wholesome roots, arise, all of them are completely dedicated to omniscience. And in any case, at that time, one completely dedicates in such a way that one does not fixate on the dhyana and the limbs of dhyana. Subhuti, in this way, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, abiding in the perfection of patience, is one who completely upholds the perfection of meditation. The questioner said: Blessed One, how does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, abiding in the perfection of patience, completely uphold the perfection of wisdom? The Blessed One replied: Subhuti, in this case, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, abiding in the perfection of patience, when he observes and abides in the nature of dharmas with the aspect of emptiness, or the aspect of peace, or the aspect of inexhaustibility, he does not manifest that suchness until he abides in the essence of enlightenment. Even after abiding in the essence of enlightenment, he attains omniscience. After arising from that, regarding the dharmas,

And again turning the wheel of Dharma, those roots of virtue are also shared with all sentient beings, and completely dedicated to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. How does one completely dedicate to it with which of the three kinds of awareness? One completely dedicates in such a way that it does not involve who dedicates, what is dedicated, or where one dedicates. Subhuti, in that way, a bodhisattva mahasattva abides in the perfection of patience and upholds the perfection of wisdom, and in any case, one upholds in such a way that one neither abandons nor grasps. Question: Blessed One, how does a bodhisattva mahasattva abide in the perfection of diligence and uphold the perfection of generosity? The Blessed One said: Subhuti, here, a bodhisattva mahasattva abides in the perfection of diligence and does not abandon the diligence of body and mind, saying, 'If I do not manifestly awaken to unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment, I will not act; I will undoubtedly manifestly awaken to unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment.' For the sake of sentient beings, whether it be one yojana, or a hundred yojanas, or a thousand yojanas, or a hundred thousand yojanas, or even to a world system, or a billion trillion hundred thousand kotis of world systems, one goes and abides in the perfection of diligence, and in brief, one also establishes some sentient beings in enlightenment. If beings do not encounter the vehicle of a bodhisattva, one also establishes those who are of the vehicle of a shravaka in the ground of a shravaka. One also establishes those who are of the vehicle of a pratyekabuddha in the ground of a pratyekabuddha. In brief, one also establishes some sentient beings in the path of the ten virtuous actions. He gives those gifts of Dharma and satisfies sentient beings with gifts of material things. He also does not dedicate those roots of virtue to the ground of a shravaka or a pratyekabuddha, but rather shares them with all sentient beings and completely dedicates them to unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. How is that?
