Action is a mistaken understanding of the two truths. Then, the venerable Subhuti said to the Blessed One: "Blessed One, the conduct of a Bodhisattva, the conduct of a Bodhisattva, if it is done so, then what is the term for calling it the conduct of a Bodhisattva?" The Blessed One said: "Subhuti, the conduct of a Bodhisattva, the conduct of a Bodhisattva, is so called because it is practiced for the sake of enlightenment, therefore it is called the conduct of a Bodhisattva." (Subhuti) asked: "Blessed One, what does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practice?" The Blessed One said: "He practices that form is emptiness, and in any way, the mind does not become two, thus he practices. Feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness are also practiced as emptiness, and in any way, the mind does not become two, thus he practices. He practices that the sense bases, elements, and dependent origination are emptiness. In any way, the mind does not become two, thus he practices. He practices that the perfection of giving, the perfection of ethics, the perfection of patience, the perfection of diligence, the perfection of meditation, and the perfection of wisdom are emptiness. He practices that emptiness is emptiness between inner emptiness and the emptiness of the nature of non-things. He practices that the first dhyana, the second dhyana, the third dhyana, the fourth dhyana, and loving-kindness, compassion, joy, equanimity, and the sphere of infinite space, the sphere of infinite consciousness, the sphere of nothingness, the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception are emptiness. He practices that the mindfulness, the right abandonment, the basis of miraculous power, the faculties, the powers, the limbs of enlightenment, and the eightfold noble path are emptiness. He practices that the noble truths, meditation, the immeasurables, the formless absorptions, the eight liberations, and the gradual abiding absorptions

The nine gaps, the samadhi of emptiness, the samadhi of no characteristics, the samadhi of no wishes, the supernormal knowledges, the samadhi, the door of dharanis, the powers of the Tathagata, the fearlessnesses, the individual correct knowledges, and the unmixed dharmas of the Buddha, one practices with emptiness. Up to the all-aspects of knowledge, one practices with emptiness. Purifying the Buddha-field, maturing sentient beings, fearlessness, and manifestly accomplishing letters, one practices with emptiness. Entering into letters and not entering into letters, one practices with emptiness. Entering into the subtle, one practices with emptiness. Form, one practices with emptiness. The realm of the conditioned and the realm of the unconditioned, one practices with emptiness. However, the mind does not change into two, thus one practices. Subhuti, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, thus practicing in the Perfection of Wisdom, is practicing in Bodhi. Therefore, it is called the practice of the Bodhisattva, which is a wrong conception about the application. Chapter Sixty-one. After thus speaking, the venerable Subhuti asked the Blessed One: Blessed One, when we say Buddha, Buddha, what is the etymology of the word Buddha? The Blessed One said: Subhuti, the true meaning is called Buddha. Subhuti, in this way, he manifestly and completely awakened to the true Dharma, therefore he is called Buddha. Because he thoroughly understands the true meaning, therefore he is called Buddha. Subhuti, in this way, he manifestly and completely awakened to all dharmas as they are, therefore he is called Buddha, which is a wrong conception about the Buddha Jewel. Subhuti asked: Blessed One, when we say Bodhi, what is the etymology of the word Bodhi? The Blessed One said: Subhuti, that which is called Bodhi is the etymology of emptiness. That is the etymology of Suchness. That is the non-erroneous Suchness and

Furthermore, the suchness that is not other, the nature of phenomena, the realm of phenomena, the abiding nature of phenomena, the faultless nature of phenomena, and the ultimate term of reality are transcendent. Subhuti, likewise, what is called enlightenment is suchness that is not mistaken, suchness that is not other, suchness that does not transform into another form; therefore, it is called enlightenment. Subhuti, likewise, this is also like this: what is called enlightenment is merely a name and a sign; therefore, it is called enlightenment. Subhuti, likewise, the meaning of reality is the meaning of enlightenment. Subhuti, likewise, it is that which realizes all phenomena as merely names and signs; therefore, it is called enlightenment. Subhuti, likewise, the meaning of non-differentiation is the meaning of enlightenment. Subhuti, likewise, it is the enlightenment of the Buddhas, the Bhagavat; therefore, it is called enlightenment. Subhuti, likewise, it is because the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, have manifestly and completely awakened; therefore, it is called enlightenment, which is a wrong conception about the Dharma Jewel. Question: Bhagavan, does a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who practices for the sake of this enlightenment practice the six perfections, and practice all emptiness, and practice the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, and practice the noble truths, and practice meditative concentration, and practice the immeasurables, and practice the formless absorptions, and the eight liberations, and the nine successive abidings, and emptiness, and signlessness, and wishlessness, and higher knowledge, and samadhi, and the gateways of dharani, and the ten powers of the Tathagata, and fearlessness, and individual perfect knowledge, and the unmixed qualities of the Buddha, and up to the all-knowingness? Does he practice any dharma that comes, goes, decays, increases, is born, ceases, is defiled, or purified? The Bhagavan said: Subhuti, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who practices this enlightenment, and practices the six perfections, and
