That Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, abiding in those fourteen emptinesses, does not fixate on form as empty or not empty. Feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness as empty or not empty, he does not fixate. The sense bases, realms, and dependent origination as empty or not empty, he does not fixate. All perfections, all emptinesses, the thirty-seven wings of enlightenment as empty or not empty, he does not fixate. The noble truths, meditative stabilizations, immeasurables, formless absorptions, the eight liberations, the nine successive abidings in meditative stabilization as empty or not empty, he does not fixate. Emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness as empty or not empty, he does not fixate. Superknowledges, samadhis, and the doors of dharani as empty or not empty, he does not fixate. The ten powers, four fearlessnesses, four analytical knowledges, and eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha as empty or not empty, he does not fixate. Even up to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment as empty or not empty, he does not fixate. The conditioned realm as empty or not empty, he does not fixate. The unconditioned realm as empty or not empty, he does fixate. When a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices this Prajnaparamita, whatever he gives as alms, whether food, drink, vehicles, clothing, flowers, garlands, incense, unguents, bedding, dwellings, livelihood, possessions, or human possessions, he does not truly see that giving as giving. He does not truly see what is given or to whom it is given, and there is no opportunity for a miserly mind or a grasping mind in him. Why is that? Because a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who practices Prajnaparamita has been embraced with compas-

When I sit in the seat of enlightenment, all those discriminations are absent. How could the Tathagata, the Arhat, the perfectly enlightened Buddha, have a mind of stinginess or a mind of holding back when he manifests perfect enlightenment in unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment? Similarly, when a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, there is no arising of a mind of stinginess or a mind of holding back. This is because this Perfection of Wisdom is the teacher of the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva. Those roots of virtue are not dedicated to the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. Having made them common with all sentient beings, they are dedicated to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. How is that? It is dedicated in such a way that the three concepts of who dedicates, what is dedicated, and where it is dedicated do not occur. Subhuti, in that way, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva abiding in the Perfection of Wisdom is holding onto the Perfection of Giving. The question: World Honored One, how does a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva abiding in the Perfection of Wisdom hold onto the Perfection of Morality? The World Honored One said: Subhuti, here, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva abiding in the Perfection of Wisdom does not open the opportunity for the ground of the Shravakas or the ground of the Pratyekabuddhas. Why is that? It is because he does not focus on the ground of the Shravakas or the ground of the Pratyekabuddhas. He also does not focus on that mind. From the time he first generated the mind until he sits in the seat of enlightenment, I have also abandoned killing. Furthermore, I encourage others to abandon killing. I speak of the merits of abandoning killing. Furthermore, I praise the merits of those who have abandoned killing and rejoice in agreement. I have also abandoned taking what is not given, sexual misconduct, lying, divisive speech, harsh speech, idle chatter, covetousness, malice, and wrong views.
