Thus, without allowing the three concepts of earth to arise, one completely dedicates it. Subhuti, in this way, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva abides in the perfection of diligence and fully grasps the perfection of wisdom. Question: World Honored One, how does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva abide in the perfection of meditation and fully grasp the perfection of generosity? The World Honored One replied: Subhuti, in this case, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva is secluded from desires, secluded from sinful and unwholesome dharmas, with initial and sustained application, abides having attained the first dhyana, which is born of seclusion, with joy and bliss. With the subsiding of initial and sustained application, with inner serenity, with unification of mind, without initial or sustained application, abides having attained the second dhyana, which is born of concentration, with joy and bliss. With detachment from joy, abiding with mindfulness and awareness, remaining in equanimity, experiencing pleasure with the body, the noble ones declare that one abides with mindfulness, being equanimous by contemplating pleasure with mindfulness, abides having attained the third dhyana, which is without joy. Having abandoned pleasure and abandoned suffering, with the previous joy and displeasure also ceasing, being without pleasure and without suffering, with purity of equanimity and mindfulness, abides having attained the fourth dhyana. Likewise, one abides having attained up to the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception. Having abided in that perfection of meditation, with an undistracted mind, one completely gives material gifts and Dharma gifts to those sentient beings, and also encourages others to give material gifts and Dharma gifts. One speaks of the virtues of material gifts and Dharma gifts. Furthermore, one praises the virtues of those who completely give material gifts and Dharma gifts, and rejoices with them, and those roots of virtue are not dedicated to the grounds of hearers or solitary realizers, but to all sentient beings.

Everything is shared in common and completely dedicated to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. Subhuti, thus, how does a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, in this, not allow the three concepts of 'by whom is it dedicated,' 'what is dedicated,' or 'where is it dedicated' to arise, and thus completely dedicate it? Subhuti, thus, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva abides in the perfection of meditation and upholds the perfection of generosity. Requested: Blessed One, how does a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva abide in the perfection of meditation and uphold the perfection of ethics? The Blessed One said: Subhuti, here, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva abides in the perfection of meditation and does not generate a mind filled with desire, a mind filled with hatred, a mind filled with delusion, or a mind filled with harm. Furthermore, he acts with the mindfulness endowed with the knowledge of all aspects, and those roots of virtue are not dedicated to the ground of hearers or the ground of solitary Buddhas. Furthermore, he shares it in common with all sentient beings and completely dedicates it to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. Thus, how does he completely dedicate it without allowing the three concepts of 'by whom is it completely dedicated,' 'what is completely dedicated,' and 'where is it completely dedicated' to arise? Subhuti, thus, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva abides in the perfection of meditation and upholds the perfection of ethics. Requested: Blessed One, how does a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva abide in the perfection of meditation and uphold the perfection of patience? The Blessed One said: Subhuti, here, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva abides in the perfection of meditation, and thoroughly understands form as like a bubble, feeling as like a blister, perception as like a mirage, formation as like a plantain tree, and consciousness as like an illusion. Thus, he individually understands the five aggregates of grasping in that way,
