For the sake of sentient beings, in order to fully seek all roots of virtue, one does not generate a mind of laziness. What is the reason for this? It is like this, one thinks in this way: Even being born in the heavens is difficult for the lazy to achieve, what to speak of the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment? Therefore, I should exert effort until I attain unsurpassed perfect enlightenment and become a Buddha. One should constantly not abandon diligence. Subhuti, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who fully understands in this way practices the perfection of diligence. He does not let his mind wander for the sake of those sentient beings themselves. What is the reason for this? It is like this, he thinks in this way: Even being born in worldly meditation is difficult for those with disturbed minds to achieve, what to speak of the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment? Therefore, I should not let my mind be disturbed until I attain unsurpassed perfect enlightenment and become a Buddha. Subhuti, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who fully understands in this way practices the perfection of meditation. For the sake of those sentient beings themselves, one will never be separated from wisdom until attaining unsurpassed perfect enlightenment and becoming a Buddha. What is the reason for this? It is like this, he thinks in this way: Without entering the Prajnaparamita, one cannot fully ripen sentient beings in other ways. Therefore, I should not generate even a little mind that is contrary to wisdom. Subhuti, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who fully understands in this way practices the perfection of wisdom for the benefit of sentient beings. Asked: Blessed One, if there is no difference among the perfections, then why is this Prajnaparamita called the best of the five perfections? Why is it called the chief? Why is it called the supreme? Why is it called the sacred? Why is it called the excellent? Why is it called the abundant? Why is it called the unsurpassed? Why is it called the incomparable? Why is it called the unequaled?

It is called unequal and equal. The Blessed One said: Subhuti, it is so, it is so. Subhuti, there is no difference in the perfections. If there is no perfection of wisdom, then these five perfections will not obtain the name of perfection. Relying on the perfection of wisdom, these five perfections will also obtain the name of perfection. Subhuti, for example, various different bodies, if they go to the foot of Mount Sumeru, the king of mountains, they will become one color. Subhuti, similarly, relying on the perfection of wisdom, these five perfections will obtain the name of perfection. They also go to the all-knowingness, like this, in the color of all-knowingness, they become one color. This is the perfection of giving, this is the perfection of morality, this is the perfection of patience, this is the perfection of diligence, this is the perfection of meditation, this is the perfection of wisdom, there is no difference. What is the reason for that? Like this, because it is without self-nature, there is no difference. He reported: Blessed One, if following the meaning, there is no difference or distinction, then why is the perfection of wisdom called the best of these five perfections? Called the main one? Called the supreme? Called the sacred? Called the excellent? Called the abundant? Called the unsurpassed? Called the incomparable? Called the unequaled? Called unequal and equal? The Blessed One said: Subhuti, it is so, it is so. When following the meaning to be attained, there is no difference or distinction in any dharma. However, according to worldly terms and customs, in order to liberate beings from samsara, there is also the perfection of giving, there is also the perfection of morality, there is also the perfection of patience, there is also the perfection of diligence.

and also the perfection of wisdom, the perfection of concentration, and the perfection of wisdom exist. Those sentient beings also have no birth, no death, no transference, and no arising. Because there are no sentient beings, all phenomena should be understood as nonexistent. Subhuti, therefore, the perfection of wisdom is said to be the most excellent, the most principal, the most supreme, the most sacred, the most preeminent, the most abundant, the most unsurpassed, the most unexcelled, the most incomparable, the unequal and equal of these five perfections. Subhuti, for example, Among all the women of Jambudvipa, the jewel woman is said to be the most excellent, the most principal, the most supreme, the most sacred, the most preeminent, the most abundant, the most unsurpassed, the most unexcelled, the most incomparable, the unequal and equal. The questioner said: Blessed One, what is the meaning of calling the perfection of wisdom the most excellent, the most principal, the most supreme, the most sacred, the most preeminent, the most abundant, the most unsurpassed, the most unexcelled, the most incomparable, the unequal and equal? The Blessed One replied: Subhuti, it is because this perfection of wisdom completely grasps all virtuous dharmas and, in a non-abiding manner, causes all kinds of wisdom to abide therein. This is called the subsequent discrimination. These are the second kind of discrimination of grasping, which have been spoken of in nine forms. The questioner said: Blessed One, does the perfection of wisdom grasp or abandon any dharma? The Blessed One replied: Subhuti, it is not so. The perfection of wisdom does not grasp or abandon any dharma. Why is that? Subhuti, it is because all dharmas are neither grasped nor abandoned. The questioner said: Blessed One, how does the perfection of wisdom not grasp or abandon all dharmas? Blessed One
