The characteristic of this profound Perfection of Wisdom is absence of aspiration, which refers to knowing emptiness, signlessness, and absence of aspiration. Sons of the gods, the characteristic of this profound Perfection of Wisdom is unborn. The characteristic is unceasing. The characteristic is without all afflictions. The characteristic is without purification. The characteristic is without things. The characteristic of no-self-nature is without reliance. The characteristic is space. The characteristic is impermanent. The characteristic is without annihilation. The characteristic is without manifest action. The characteristic is not of one meaning. The characteristic is not diverse. The characteristic is without going, that is, without characteristic. Sons of the gods, although the characteristic of this profound Perfection of Wisdom is such, the Tathagata expresses it in worldly terms, but ultimately it is not so, which refers to knowing unborn and unceasing, and so on. Sons of the gods, these characteristics cannot be disturbed by the world including gods and asuras. Why is that? Because the world including gods, humans, and asuras is also these characteristics themselves. Sons of the gods, those who do not disturb the characteristics do not understand the characteristic of no-characteristic. Therefore, with regard to both characteristic and no-characteristic, and the existence of characteristic and the non-existence of characteristic, who can understand them? Or what can be understood is impossible, which refers to knowing that the nature of phenomena is undisturbed. Sons of the gods, these characteristics are not made by form. Likewise, they are not made by feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness. They are not made by elements. They are not made by sources. They are not made by dependent origination. They are not made by the Perfection of Giving. They are not made by the Perfection of Discipline. They are not made by the Perfection of Patience. They are not made by the Perfection of Diligence. They are not made by the Perfection of Meditation. They are not made by the Perfection of Wisdom.

It is not made by giving. It is not made by all emptiness. It is not made by the dharmas of the aspects of enlightenment. It is not made by the noble truths. It is not made by the immeasurables, the meditations, the formless absorptions, the eight liberations, and the nine successive abidings in absorption. It is not made by emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness. It is not made by clairvoyance. It is not made by all samādhis. It is not made by all dhāraṇī gates. It is not made by the powers of the Thus-Gone One. It is not made by the fearlessnesses, the analytical knowledges, and the eighteen unshared qualities of a buddha. It is not made by the all-knowingness itself. This is known as the knowledge of non-manifestation of fabrication. Sons of the gods, those characteristics are neither human nor non-human, neither with outflows nor without outflows, neither worldly nor beyond worldly, neither conditioned nor unconditioned. Then the Bhagavan addressed those sons of the gods who abide in desire and abide in form, saying: Sons of the gods, if someone were to say, 'What is the characteristic of space?', would he be speaking truthfully? The sons of the gods replied: Bhagavan, he would not be speaking truthfully. Why is that? Bhagavan, because the element of space is not fabricated, therefore space has no characteristic whatsoever. This is known as non-conceptual knowledge. The Bhagavan said: Sons of the gods, whether the Thus-Gone Ones appear or do not appear, the element of dharma remains as it is. Thus, the characteristic remains, abiding as it truly is. Thus, the Thus-Gone One awakens to perfect enlightenment, and therefore the Thus-Gone One is called the Thus-Gone One. The sons of the gods asked: Bhagavan, this profound characteristic is awakened to perfect enlightenment by the Thus-Gone One. What are the characteristics that are awakened to perfect enlightenment?

Then, the Tathagata is the wise one who is free from attachment. The Tathagata abides in what characteristics, and the Tathagata has truly revealed all characteristics? The Blessed One, having truly revealed the Perfection of Wisdom, has truly revealed those characteristics. Blessed One, to the extent that the Perfection of Wisdom is profound, to that extent the realm of activity of the Tathagatas, the Arhats, the Perfectly Awakened Ones, becomes profound. By practicing what, the Tathagatas, the Arhats, the Perfectly Awakened Ones, manifest complete enlightenment in unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, and having manifested complete enlightenment in unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, they also perfectly distinguish all characteristics, namely, the characteristic of form, the characteristic of feeling, the characteristic of perception, the characteristic of formation, the characteristic of consciousness, and likewise, the characteristic of aggregates, the characteristic of elements, the characteristic of sources, and the characteristic of dependent origination, and perfectly distinguish the characteristics up to the characteristic of all-knowingness. It is very wonderful, and this is knowing how to perfectly distinguish. Then, the Blessed One, in the realm of desire and the realm of form, spoke to the sons of the gods: Sons of the gods, the characteristic of form is that which can be formed. The Tathagata has manifested complete and perfect enlightenment in the absence of characteristics. The characteristic of feeling is experiencing. The characteristic of perception is apprehending signs. The characteristic of formations is manifest formation. The characteristic of consciousness is knowing each individual's own nature, and the Tathagata has manifested complete and perfect enlightenment in the absence of characteristics. The characteristic of aggregates is accumulation. The characteristic of elements is lineage. The characteristic of sources is the gate of birth. The characteristic of dependent origination is assembly, and the Tathagata has manifested complete and perfect enlightenment in the absence of characteristics. The characteristic of the perfection of generosity is complete giving, as
