Because the perfect knowledge is profound, and the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha are profound, and the sons of the gods, up to the state of omniscience, are profound, therefore this Dharma is profound. Having spoken thus, the sons of the gods said to the Bhagavan: "Bhagavan, this teaching of the Dharma is contrary to all the world. Why is that? Bhagavan, that Dharma is not taught for the sake of grasping or not grasping form. Feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness are not taught for the sake of grasping or not grasping. The aggregates, the elements, the sources, dependent origination, and the limbs of dependent origination are not taught for the sake of grasping or not grasping. Likewise, all emptiness, and the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, and the ten powers, and the fearlessnesses, and the perfect knowledge, and the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha are not taught for the sake of grasping or not grasping. All dharmas are not taught for the sake of grasping or not grasping. Bhagavan, this Dharma is not taught for the sake of grasping or not grasping the fruit of stream-entry. Likewise, the fruit of once-returner, and the fruit of non-returner, and Arhatship, and solitary enlightenment, up to the state of omniscience, are not taught for the sake of grasping or not grasping. It is not taught for the sake of grasping all emptiness and the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, nor is it for the sake of not grasping. It is not taught for the sake of grasping the noble truths, meditative stabilizations, immeasurables, formless absorptions, liberations, successive abiding stabilizations, emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, nor is it for the sake of not grasping. It is not taught for the sake of grasping clairvoyance, samadhi, dharani gates, the ten powers of the Tathagata, fearlessnesses, individual perfect knowledge, great loving-kindness, great compassion, unshared qualities of the Buddha, nor is it for the sake of not grasping. It is not taught for the sake of grasping up to all-knowingness, nor is it for the sake of not grasping. Sons of the gods, is any form practiced for the sake of grasping, or is it practiced for the sake of not grasping? Are feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness practiced for the sake of grasping, or are they practiced for the sake of not grasping? Are aggregates, sources, elements, and dependent origination practiced for the sake of grasping, or are they practiced for the sake of not grasping? Are all the perfections, all emptinesses, samadhis, meditative stabilizations, and dharani gates practiced for the sake of grasping, or are they practiced for the sake of not grasping? Are immeasurables, meditative stabilizations, formless absorptions, noble truths, emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, clairvoyance, ten powers, fearlessnesses, individual perfect knowledge, and unshared qualities of the Buddha practiced for the sake of grasping, or are they practiced for the sake of not grasping? Is any all-knowingness practiced for the sake of grasping, or is it practiced for the sake of not grasping? Those practices are not endowed with the fortune to cultivate the Perfection of Wisdom. One cannot cultivate meditative stabilization, diligence, patience, discipline, or the Perfection of Giving. One cannot cultivate up to all-knowingness. This is the nature that is incompatible with all the world. Subhuti inquired.
