Do not be arrogant with meditation. Do not be arrogant with meditation. Do not be arrogant by saying, "I possess meditation." Do not be arrogant with wisdom. Do not be arrogant with wisdom. Do not be arrogant by saying, "I possess wisdom." Why is that? Because, like this, the conceptualizations with which one becomes arrogant are not present in the perfection of generosity. Similarly, the conceptualizations with which one becomes arrogant are not present in the perfection of ethics, the perfection of patience, the perfection of diligence, and the perfection of meditation. Like this, the conceptualizations with which one becomes arrogant are not present in the perfection of wisdom. Why is that? Like this, the perfection of wisdom is far-reaching. Since that is the case, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva does not become arrogant with either the near shore or the far shore. Then, being completely grasped by the perfection of generosity, and being completely grasped by the perfection of ethics, the perfection of patience, the perfection of diligence, the perfection of meditation, and the perfection of wisdom, and being completely grasped up to the state of omniscience, he will not fall into the state of a Hearer or a Solitary Buddha, and he will also accomplish omniscience. Subhuti, in that way, a person of the Bodhisattva vehicle, being completely grasped by the perfection of wisdom, and being completely grasped by skillful means, will not fall into the state of a Hearer or a Solitary Buddha. Being completely grasped by skillful means in that way, he will accomplish the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. This is called the distinction of being completely grasped, the third moment of the path. When this was said, the venerable Subhuti said this to the Blessed One: Blessed One, how should a Bodhisattva Mahasattva of the first action train in the perfection of wisdom? How should

One should train in the perfection of meditative concentration. One should train in the perfection of diligence. One should train in the perfection of patience. One should train in the perfection of discipline. One should train in the perfection of generosity. One should train until the unmixed qualities of the Buddhas are attained. The Blessed One said: "Subhuti, here, a bodhisattva mahasattva who is newly practicing, if he wishes to train in the perfection of wisdom, the perfection of meditative concentration, the perfection of diligence, the perfection of patience, the perfection of discipline, the perfection of generosity, and even wishes to train until the attainment of all-knowingness, then he should rely on a virtuous friend who teaches the perfection of wisdom, the perfection of meditative concentration, the perfection of diligence, the perfection of patience, the perfection of discipline, and the perfection of generosity. He should attend to and serve them. They should teach the perfection of wisdom in this way: 'Son of good family, whatever generosity you give, dedicate it all to unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment. Son of good family, whatever discipline you guard, whatever patience you cultivate, whatever diligence you exert, whatever meditative concentration you enter into, whatever wisdom you cultivate, dedicate it all to unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment. Son of good family, do not seek unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment through the aspect of form. Do not seek it through feeling. Do not seek it through perception. Do not seek it through formations. Do not seek it through the aspect of consciousness. Son of good family, do not seek unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment from the side of the perfection of generosity. Do not seek it from the side of the perfection of discipline, the perfection of patience, the perfection of diligence, the perfection of meditative concentration, or the perfection of wisdom.'
