Thus, although that man's eyes have not seen the great ocean, he thinks to himself that he is near the great ocean, that the great ocean is here, and that the great ocean is not far from here. He should know it thus. World-Honored One, likewise, when a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva listens to, upholds, writes, recites, masters, and properly attends to this Perfection of Wisdom, he should know it thus, and think thus: 'At the place of the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Awakened One, after this many kalpas, this many hundreds of kalpas, this many thousands of kalpas, this many hundreds of thousands of kotis of nayutas of kalpas, I shall manifestly awaken to the Unsurpassed Perfect and Complete Enlightenment.' Although he has not been directly prophesied to attain Unsurpassed Perfect and Complete Enlightenment, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva should also know that he has received the prophecy of Unsurpassed Perfect and Complete Enlightenment and is close to Unsurpassed Perfect and Complete Enlightenment. Why? Because I see this profound Perfection of Wisdom, pay homage, respectfully make offerings, and listen to it. Having heard it, I uphold it. Having upheld it, I write it. Having written it, I recite it. Having recited it, I master it. Having mastered it, I properly attend to it. He should know it thus; this is the uninterrupted application. World-Honored One, for example, when springtime has arrived, and the leaves and branches of plants have withered and their colors have changed, the people of Jambudvipa all say that leaves, flowers, and fruits will soon appear. Why? Because these preliminary signs have already appeared in the plants, and therefore leaves, flowers, and fruits will soon appear. The people of Jambudvipa, seeing these preliminary signs in the plants, will be delighted. World-Honored One, likewise, when a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, at any time, the Perfection of Wisdom...

To behold this profound conduct, to pay homage, to make offerings, to go to listen, and having heard, they will also grasp it, they will also hold it, they will read and fully comprehend it, and that Bodhisattva Mahasattva who properly applies their mind, O Blessed One, should know that their roots of virtue are fully matured. O Blessed One, those sons and daughters of good family should know that they have paid homage to many Buddhas. O Blessed One, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva should also think thus: I behold this profound Perfection of Wisdom, I pay homage, I make offerings, I go to listen, and as the Perfection of Wisdom has been taught, to be practiced, this is because the roots of virtue of the past have drawn near to unsurpassed, perfect and complete Enlightenment. Then, the sons of the gods who have seen as many Buddhas in the past, when they see those omens of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, just as these omens appeared when the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas of the past were prophesied, this Bodhisattva Mahasattva will also soon be prophesied to unsurpassed, perfect and complete Enlightenment, they will be very happy, joyful and content, this is considered to be the means of approaching the realization of Enlightenment. O Blessed One, for example, the more a pregnant woman approaches childbirth, the more her body will change, and the more intense the suffering on her body will be, and she will become weak, she will not want to eat, her memory will diminish, she will eat very little food, drowsiness and sleep will also become very little, because of those feelings, she will speak very little, her body will be uncomfortable, she will think about things that she did not properly apply her mind to before, she will apply her mind to them, she will draw near to them, therefore she will experience such feelings. Other women, seeing those signs of the woman, will think that this woman will soon give birth. O Blessed One, similarly, the Bodhisattva

Having generated roots of virtue with great bravery, having attended to and revered many Buddhas, having practiced virtuous conduct, being completely held by virtuous spiritual friends, for those whose roots of virtue are fully ripened, this profound Perfection of Wisdom is also suitable. Having become suitable, they will also uphold it, they will also hold it, they will also recite it, they will also make it fully understood, and they will properly apply their minds to it. World-Honored One, those Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas will soon be prophesied to attain unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. One should know this. The World-Honored One said: Shariputra, well done, well done! Shariputra, your boldness is born from the power of the Buddha, and it is the means for quickly attaining perfect enlightenment. Then, the Venerable Subhuti said to the World-Honored One: World-Honored One, it is most wonderful that the Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Enlightened Buddhas thus completely hold those Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas! The World-Honored One said: Subhuti, thus, those Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas are for the benefit of many beings, for the happiness of many beings, with compassion for the world, for the sake of the benefit and happiness of the great assembly of gods and humans, having entered into unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, when practicing the conduct of a Bodhisattva, through the four means of gathering—giving, kind speech, beneficial action, and acting in accordance with the Dharma—they will sequentially gather hundreds and thousands of sentient beings, thousands and tens of thousands of sentient beings, and hundreds of thousands of millions of sentient beings, and they will also cause them to properly engage in the path of the ten virtuous actions. They will also cause them to properly engage in the four meditations, the four immeasurables, and the four formless absorptions. They themselves will also abide in those Dharmas. I will also practice the Perfection of Giving. I will also establish others in the Perfection of Giving. I will also practice the Perfection of Ethical Conduct.
