Subhuti asked: Blessed One, how is it that for the sake of the complete purification of form, the perfection of wisdom is completely pure? How is it that for the sake of the complete purification of feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness, the perfection of wisdom is completely pure? Likewise, the aggregates, the elements, the sense sources, the arising of relations, and the perfections, and the dharmas of the aspects of enlightenment, and the noble truths, and the immeasurables, and the meditations, and the formless absorptions, and the eight liberations, and the nine successive abidings, and emptiness, and signlessness, and wishlessness, and the superknowledges, and the ten powers, and the fearlessnesses, and the individual correct knowledges, and the unmixed dharmas of the Buddha, for the sake of complete purification up to the all-knowingness, the perfection of wisdom is completely pure? The Blessed One said: Subhuti, form is without arising, without ceasing, without defilement, without purification, that is the complete purification of form. Aggregates, realms, sources, limbs of dependent origination, perfections, emptinesses, samādhis, dhāraṇī gates, the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, immeasurables, meditations, formless absorptions, the eight liberations, the gradually abiding samādhis, emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, superknowledges, the ten powers of the Tathāgata, fearlessnesses, separate correct knowledges, the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha—their unbornness, unceasingness, undefilement, and non-purification—are the complete purification of the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha. The unbornness, unceasingness, undefilement, and non-purification of all-knowingness are the complete purification of all-knowingness, which is the subsequent knowledge of suffering. Furthermore, Subhūti, because of the complete purity of space, the Perfection of Wisdom is completely pure. Subhūti asked, "Bhagavan, how is the Perfection of Wisdom completely pure because of the complete purity of space?" The Bhagavan said, "Because from form up to all-knowingness, like space, there is no birth, no cessation, no defilement, and no purification, therefore the Perfection of Wisdom is completely pure," which is the forbearance of knowledge of phenomena regarding origination. Subhūti, because space is without stain, the Perfection of Wisdom is completely pure. Subhūti asked, "Bhagavan, how is the Perfection of Wisdom completely pure because space is without stain?" The Bhagavan said, "Because in space, from form up to all-knowingness, there is no stain, therefore the Perfection of Wisdom is completely pure," which is the knowledge of phenomena regarding origination.

Because I am not, the Perfection of Wisdom is completely pure. Subhuti asked: "Bhagavan, how is it that the Perfection of Wisdom is completely pure because the sky is ungraspable?" The Blessed One replied: "Subhuti, like the sky, from form to all-knowingness is ungraspable, therefore the Perfection of Wisdom is completely pure, which is called the forbearance of knowing in accordance with the arising of the aggregate. Subhuti, because the sky has no name, the Perfection of Wisdom is completely pure. Subhuti asked: "Bhagavan, how is it that the Perfection of Wisdom is completely pure because the sky has no name?" The Blessed One replied: "Subhuti, for example, just as there is the sound of two potsherds in the sky, similarly, Subhuti, like the sky, from form to all-knowingness there is no name, therefore the Perfection of Wisdom is completely pure, which is called knowing in accordance with the arising of the aggregate. Subhuti, because the sky is inexpressible, the Perfection of Wisdom is completely pure. Subhuti asked: "Bhagavan, how is it that the Perfection of Wisdom is completely pure because the sky is inexpressible?" The Blessed One replied: "Subhuti, for the sky, nothing is in expressible. Subhuti, similarly, from form to all-knowingness is inexpressible, therefore the Perfection of Wisdom is completely pure, which is called the forbearance of Dharma-knowledge of cessation. Because the sky has no object, the Perfection of Wisdom is completely pure. Subhuti asked: "Bhagavan, how is it that the Perfection of Wisdom is completely pure because the sky has no object?"
