One should not dedicate to the ground. What is the reason for that? It is to be known that this is because all dharmas are empty of inherent nature. If one dedicates in that way, it is dedicating to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. Thus, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, and likewise practices the Perfection of Samadhi, the Perfection of Diligence, the Perfection of Patience, the Perfection of Ethics, and the Perfection of Generosity, perceptions will not be reversed, mind will not be reversed, and views will not be reversed. What is the reason for that? It is because the Bodhisattva Mahasattva has no attachment to that dedication. Because those roots of virtue where attachment would arise and the mind of enlightenment are not truly seen. This is the unsurpassed dedication of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, which is dedication with the characteristic of non-reversal. If a Bodhisattva Mahasattva knows that the object of meritorious action that is manifestly accumulated is separated from the aggregates, elements, and sense bases, knows that it is separated by the Perfection of Wisdom, and likewise knows that it is separated by the Perfection of Samadhi, the Perfection of Diligence, the Perfection of Patience, the Perfection of Ethics, and the Perfection of Generosity, knows that it is separated by inner emptiness, knows that it is separated by the emptiness of the nature of non-things, knows that it is separated by the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, knows that it is separated by the ten powers of the Tathagata, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, and the eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddha, then in that way, the object of meritorious action that is manifestly accumulated by the Bodhisattva Mahasattva is dedicated to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. If a Bodhisattva Mahasattva

Afterwards, knowing that the object of meritorious action endowed with rejoicing is devoid of the nature of the object of meritorious action. Those Buddhas, the Bhagavat, are devoid of the nature of Buddhahood. Those roots of virtue are devoid of the nature of the roots of virtue. Those manifest actions are devoid of the nature of manifest actions. The mind of enlightenment is devoid of the nature of the mind of enlightenment. The mind of dedication is devoid of the nature of the mind of dedication. Enlightenment is also devoid of the nature of enlightenment. Prajnaparamita is devoid of the nature of prajnaparamita.

Emptiness is devoid of its own nature, thus Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas should practice the Perfection of Wisdom of emptiness. This is the Perfection of Wisdom of Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas, which is the dedication of emptiness. Furthermore, Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas, having recollected all the roots of virtue of those Buddhas, the Bhagavat, should dedicate them in this way: Whatever the dedication is, the mind that dedicates is of the same kind and nature. If one knows this way, it is a dedication to unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment. If one dedicates in this way, there is no inverted perception, no inverted mind, no inverted view. If Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas practice the Perfection of Wisdom in the manner of signs, and know the roots of virtue of those Buddhas, the Bhagavat, then it is not a dedication to unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment. Those Buddhas, the Bhagavat, who have passed away in the past, are also not signs, not objects. If one thinks in this way, it is still making signs, and not dedicating those roots of virtue to unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment. In that case, their perception is not inverted, their mind is not inverted, their view is not inverted. If one dedicates without knowing and without making signs of those Buddhas, the Bhagavat, those roots of virtue, those to be manifested, and those arising minds, then those roots of virtue are dedicated to unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment. In that case, the perception of Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas is not inverted, the mind is not inverted, the view is not inverted. This is the dedication of recollecting the kind and nature of the merit of the Buddhas. Maitreya said: Venerable Subhuti, how
