Dedication. Dedication. Thereafter, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Maitreya said to the Venerable Subhuti: Venerable Subhuti, Whatever virtuous deeds are associated with the rejoicing of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, having made them common with all sentient beings, and also dedicating them to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment in a non-objective manner, and also the virtuous deeds associated with the rejoicing of all sentient beings, and also the virtuous deeds arising from the generosity of those who have entered the Hearer Vehicle, and also the virtuous deeds arising from the generosity of those who have entered the Solitary Buddha Vehicle, and also the virtuous deeds arising from ethical discipline, and also whatever virtuous deeds arise from meditation, from these, the virtuous deeds associated with the rejoicing of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, having made them common with all sentient beings, this dedication to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment is called excellent, called sacred, called principal, called supreme, called most excellent, called most perfect, called unsurpassed, called unequaled, called equal to the unequal. This is called a special dedication. Thirty-fifth fascicle. What is the reason for that? Thus, whatever virtuous deeds arise from the generosity of those of the Hearer and Solitary Buddha Vehicles, and whatever arises from ethical discipline, and whatever virtuous deeds arise from meditation, all of these abide closely for the sake of taming the self, for pacifying the self, and for completely liberating the self from suffering. As many as there are thirty-seven dharmas of the path to enlightenment, and emptiness, and signlessness, and wishlessness, and the four noble truths, and the immeasurables, and meditation, and the formless attainments, and the eight liberations, and the nine successive abiding attainments, and the four individual perfect knowledges, and the six superknowledges, are also for taming the self, and for pacifying the self, and abide closely only for the sake of completely liberating the self from suffering.
