And whatever roots of virtue there are of those who have attained perfect enlightenment and have entered the faultless path of the Bodhisattvas, and whatever roots of virtue they have generated for those Tathagatas, whether they remain or have completely passed into complete Nirvana, all of these are gathered together and rejoiced at as the most excellent, the most sacred, the most principal, the most perfectly offered, the unsurpassed, the unequalled, rejoiced at with the unequal and the equal. Having thus rejoiced, the roots of virtue endowed with rejoicing are made common with all sentient beings, and may they be accomplished for the unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment, and may they be completely dedicated to the unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment. If a Mahayanist is to dedicate his mind in such a way to sentient beings, then what objects and what things are those things by which the mind is generated, and how are those objects regarded as characteristics by those sons of the Mahayana lineage? Do they exist in that way? Are they objects in that way? Maitreya said: Noble Subhuti, those things and those objects are not to be regarded as objects in the way that the sons of the Mahayana lineage have regarded them as characteristics and have completely dedicated them to the unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment. Subhuti said: If that is the case, and things do not exist and objects do not exist, then the roots of virtue of those Buddhas, the Bhagavat, who dwell and sustain in the realms of the ten directions, from the time of their first generation of mind until their manifestation of perfect and complete enlightenment, and until their complete passing into the realm of Nirvana without remainder, and until the abiding of the sacred Dharma, and whatever roots of virtue there are of those individuals of the Hearer Vehicle, and whatever roots of virtue there are of those individuals of the Solitary Buddha Vehicle, and whatever roots of virtue there are of those who are in training, and whatever roots of virtue there are of those who are not in training, all of these are gathered together and rejoiced at, and for the sake of the unsurpassed, perfect and complete

If one takes falsehood as a sign and dedicates it completely in the manner of a sign, then with regard to impermanence, thinking it is permanent, there arises a reversed perception, a reversed mind, and a reversed view; with regard to suffering, thinking it is happiness; with regard to no-self, thinking there is a self; with regard to peace, thinking it is not peace, there arises a reversed perception, a reversed mind, and a reversed view. Like this, like this, has it not become such a reversal? If it is so, then just as things are, and just as the object of focus is, so too is enlightenment. So too is the mind. So too are the perfection of generosity, the perfection of discipline, the perfection of patience, the perfection of diligence, the perfection of meditation, and the perfection of wisdom. So too are the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment. So too are the immeasurables, the meditations, the formless absorptions, and the noble truths. So too are emptiness of the internal, and up to emptiness of the essence of non-things. So too are emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness. So too are the eight liberations. So too are the nine successive abidings. So too are the six superknowledges. So too are all samadhis. So too are the doors of dharani. So too are the ten powers of the Tathagata. So too are the fearlessnesses. So too are the perfect knowledges. So too are the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha. So too is the all-knowingness. If it is so, then just as things are, and just as the object of focus is, so too is enlightenment. So too is the mind. So too are form, feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness. So too are the eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind. So too is emptiness of the internal, and up to emptiness of the essence of non-things. So too are the mindfulnesses, the perfect abandonments, the legs of magical power, the faculties, the powers, the limbs of enlightenment, and the paths. So too are the immeasurables and the meditations.
