The Blessed One said: Kaushika, even more than that, any son of good family or daughter of good family who writes, holds, recites, understands, extensively teaches, and properly contemplates this Perfection of Wisdom, without being separated from the mind of omniscience, and makes offerings with flowers, incense, perfume, garlands, unguents, powders, clothing, umbrellas, banners, victory banners, and many kinds of offerings, reveres, respects, honors, worships, and esteems them, their merit will increase greatly. This is said to be the lowest of the middling intention for one's own benefit. Kaushika, let alone if this Jambudvipa is completely filled with stupas of the Tathagata. Kaushika, if a son of good family or daughter of good family, after the Tathagata has completely passed into nirvana, for the sake of making offerings, fills this world system of the four continents with stupas made of the seven precious substances, each with a height of one yojana, and makes offerings to them with divine flowers, incense, perfume, garlands, unguents, powders, clothing, umbrellas, victory banners, and many banners, reveres, respects, honors, worships, and esteems them, Kaushika, what do you think? The Bhagavan said: Kausika, even more than that, if a son or daughter of good family writes this Perfection of Wisdom when they are young, and keeps it in a book, and holds it, recites it, reads it, fully understands it, properly attends to it, and makes offerings with flowers, incense, perfume, garlands, unguents, powders, clothes, umbrellas, banners, and many flags, regards it as a teacher, treats it with respect, makes offerings, remembers, and reveres, then the merit will increase greatly. This is called the middling of great faith in one's own benefit. Kausika, let alone filling two thousand world systems with stupas of the Tathagata. Kausika, if any son or daughter of good family, after the complete Nirvana of the Tathagata, for the sake of making offerings, fills the three thousand great thousand world systems with stupas made of the seven precious things, each stupa being a yojana in height, and after filling them, makes offerings to them with flowers, incense, perfume, garlands, unguents, powders, clothes, umbrellas, banners, and many flags, regards them as a teacher, treats them with respect, makes offerings, remembers, and reveres, Kausika, what do you think?
