Furthermore, one will not be attached to robes, alms bowls, bedding, medicine for illness, and utensils. Kauśika, for example, a diligent monk who arises from samādhi, with a mind fully moistened by attention, will not be attached to food. Kauśika, similarly, sons or daughters of good families will also not be overly attached to food. Why is that? Because in this way, non-humans will make his body radiant. All the Buddhas, Bhagavat, of the ten directions, as well as gods, nāgas, yakṣas, gandharvas, asuras, garuḍas, kinnaras, mahoragas, and all that exists, will make his body radiant. Kauśika, sons or daughters of good families who wish to fully obtain these qualities in this life should hold this Prajñāpāramitā. It should be written. It should be recited. It should be understood. It should be properly attended to. And it should not be separated from the mind of omniscience, which is a great aspiration for the benefit of oneself and others. Kauśika, if sons or daughters of good families do not hold, do not recite, do not read, do not understand, do not properly attend to this Prajñāpāramitā, and do not widely proclaim it to others, but write it and make it into a scripture, and offer, respect, honor, and worship it with flowers, incense, perfume, garlands, unguents, powders, clothes, umbrellas, banners, and flags, Kauśika, this son or daughter of good family will increase much merit from this basis. Kauśika, whichever son or daughter of good family holds, recites, reads, understands, properly attends to this Prajñāpāramitā, and widely proclaims it to others, and writes it, and offers,

As a lama, as attendance, as offering, in all ten directions of the world, to the Tathagata, Arhat, Samyak-sambuddha, and the Sangha of Shravakas, they served with Dharma robes, bowls, bedding, medicine for the cause of illness, and many implements. As a lama, as attendance, as offering. Even after the Tathagata, Arhat, Samyak-sambuddha, and the Sangha of Shravakas passed into Nirvana, they built stupas of the nature of the seven precious substances, and served them with flowers, incense, perfume, garlands, unguents, powders, clothing, umbrellas, banners, and streamers. As a lama, as attendance, as offering, if one says "no," this is a slight belittlement of the small altruistic mind. Then, the Blessed One said to Indra, the lord of the gods, " कौशिका (Sanskrit Devanagari: कौशिका, Sanskrit Romanization: kauśika, Literal meaning: कौशिका), if a thorough examination is made, if any son or daughter of a noble family were to entrust to you this Jambudvipa filled to the brim with the relics of the Tathagata, or if anyone were to entrust to you this Prajnaparamita written in a book, which of the two would you choose?" Indra replied, "Blessed One, if someone were to give me this Jambudvipa filled to the brim with the relics of the Tathagata, and someone were to give me this Prajnaparamita written in a book, between these two, I would choose this Prajnaparamita itself. Why is that? Blessed One, it is not that I am disrespectful to the relics of the Tathagata. Blessed One, it is not that I should not teach, serve, act as a lama, attend, or offer to the relics of the Tathagata, but Blessed One, even the relics of the Tathagata arise from this Prajnaparamita, therefore I serve, act as a lama, attend.

It is so, it is an offering, with the Prajñāpāramitā, the relics of the Tathāgata that have been accomplished, those relics have obtained the offering. Then, the venerable Śāriputra said this to the lord of the gods, Indra: Kauśika: This Prajñāpāramitā is ungraspable, unteachable, unobstructed, of one characteristic. If it is thus without characteristics, then the Prajñāpāramitā is ungraspable, unteachable, unobstructed, of one characteristic. If it is thus without characteristics, then how do you think it should be grasped? Why is that? Because this Prajñāpāramitā does not abide for the sake of holding and abandoning. It is not for decreasing, not for increasing, not for producing, not for diminishing, not for subtracting, not for adding, not for complete affliction, not for complete purification. It is not for giving the dharmas of the Buddhas, it is not for giving the dharmas of ordinary beings. The dharmas of Bodhisattvas, the dharmas of Pratyekabuddhas, the dharmas of Śrāvakas, the dharmas of those in training and those not in training, it is not for giving the realm of the unconditioned, it is not for giving emptiness from inner emptiness to emptiness of the nature of non-things, it is not for giving the pāramitās, it is not for giving the mindfulnesses, it is not for giving the right abandonments, it is not for giving the miraculous feet, it is not for giving the faculties, it is not for giving the powers, it is not for giving the limbs of enlightenment, it is not for giving the paths, it is not for giving the immeasurables, it is not for giving the dhyānas, it is not for giving the formless absorptions, it is not for giving the powers, it is not for giving the fearlessnesses, it is not for giving the individual correct knowledges, it is not for giving the unmixed dharmas of the Buddhas, because it is not for giving up to all-knowingness. Indra said: Venerable Śāriputra, it is so, it is so. Venerable Śāriputra, as you said, Prajñāpāramitā is not for giving the unmixed dharmas of the Buddhas, all-knowingness.
