Those who meditate on the six perfections are few. Among the people of Jambudvipa, those who have abandoned the three bonds and entered the stream, those who have thinned out desire, hatred, and delusion and are once-returners, those who have abandoned the five lower bonds and are non-returners, and those who have abandoned the five higher bonds and become Arhats are even fewer. Among the people of Jambudvipa, those who abide in the vehicle of the solitary Buddha are even fewer than those. Those who have truly entered the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment are even fewer than those. Those who practice enlightenment are even fewer than that. Those who increase the mind of enlightenment are even fewer than that. Those who enter the practice of the Perfection of Wisdom are even fewer than that. Those who abide on the irreversible ground and thus manifest the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment are even fewer than that. Kausika, from here, with my unobstructed Buddha-eye, I see that in the eastern world realms as numerous as the sands of the Ganges, countless immeasurable beings, from generating the mind of unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment to practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, but because they do not possess the skillful means of the Perfection of Wisdom, only one or two of them will abide on the irreversible ground of the Bodhisattva, and I have not seen most of them abide on the ground of the Hearer and the Solitary Buddha. Why is that? Kausika, the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment is difficult to achieve for those who are lazy, have weak diligence, weak faith, weak mind, and corrupt wisdom. Similarly, Kausika, from here, with my unobstructed Buddha-eye, I see that in the southern, western, northern, upper, lower, and intermediate world realms as numerous as the sands of the Ganges, countless immeasurable beings practice unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, but because they do not possess the skillful means of the Perfection of Wisdom, only one or two of them

Two of them will abide in the ground of non-retrogression. From these, it is mostly seen that they will abide in the position of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas. What is the reason for that? Kausika, the unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment is difficult to attain for those who are lazy, have weak diligence, have weak faith, have weak mind, and have corrupt wisdom. That is to say, having a small desire for one's own benefit is mediocre. Kausika, therefore, any son or daughter of good family who desires to quickly and easily realize the unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment should repeatedly listen to, hold, recite, understand, diligently practice, and properly contemplate this Perfection of Wisdom. One should pay homage with many offerings such as flowers, incense, perfume, garlands, ointments, powders, clothes, umbrellas, victory banners, and many streamers. One should respect and venerate it. One should make offerings to it. Whatever other virtuous dharmas there are are also included within this Perfection of Wisdom, and they should also be held, recited, understood, and properly contemplated. Like this, the Perfection of Giving, the Perfection of Ethics, the Perfection of Patience, the Perfection of Diligence, the Perfection of Meditation, the Perfection of Wisdom, as well as inner emptiness, outer emptiness, inner-outer emptiness, up to the emptiness of the nature of non-things, all samadhis, all dharani gates, the four mindfulnesses, the four correct abandonments, the four legs of miraculous power, the five faculties, the seven branches of enlightenment, the eightfold noble path, the four immeasurables, the four dhyanas, the four formless absorptions, the six superknowledges, the ten powers of the Thus-Gone One, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, the eighteen unshared dharmas of the Buddha, and great love.
