Knowing that emptiness is not present between the emptiness of the interior and the emptiness of the nature of non-things. Among all the phenomena of the path to enlightenment, emptiness of the interior and emptiness of the nature of non-things are not present. Among the eighteen unmixed qualities of the Buddhas, emptiness of the interior and emptiness of the nature of non-things are not present. This is called the second discrimination, the discrimination of the aggregates such as form. Among them, individual ordinary people are attached to ignorance and craving. They are discriminated by ignorance and craving. After discriminating, they are attached to ignorance and craving. Because they are attached to the two extremes, they do not know or see the two extremes as they are. They discriminate those phenomena that do not exist as they are, from attachment to name and form to attachment to the phenomena of the Buddhas. This is called the third discrimination, the discrimination of attachment to name and form. Those who are attached to phenomena discriminate the two extremes that do not exist. After discriminating, they do not know or see. What do they not know or see? They do not know or see form. They do not know or see feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness, even between the twelve sources, the eighteen elements, and the twelve links of dependent origination. They do not know or see the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, even among the unmixed qualities of the Buddhas. Thus, they are counted as ordinary people. This is called the fourth discrimination, the discrimination of attachment to the two extremes. They do not know or see because of ignorance and craving. What do they not know or see? They do not know or see that form is completely defiled. Similarly, they do not know or see that form is completely purified. They do not know or see that feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness are completely defiled. Similarly, consciousness is

They do not know or understand what is completely purified. Those are definitely not going to happen, nor will they change. From where will they definitely not happen? They will definitely not happen from the desire realm. They will definitely not happen from the form realm. They will definitely not happen from the formless realm. They will definitely not happen from the teachings of the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, and this is called the fifth kind of thought, which is the thought of being completely afflicted and not understanding complete purification. Those are unbelieving. How are they unbelieving? They do not believe that "form is empty of form." Until enlightenment, they do not believe that "enlightenment is empty of enlightenment." Those are not abiding. How are they not abiding? They do not abide in the perfection of generosity. They do not abide in the perfection of ethics, the perfection of patience, the perfection of diligence, and the perfection of meditation. They do not abide in the perfection of wisdom. They do not abide in the irreversible ground. They do not abide among the unmixed qualities of the Buddha. Those are clinging. How are they clinging? They are clinging to form. They are clinging to feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness. They are clinging to the eye. They are clinging to the ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind. They are clinging to the sources, elements, and dependent origination. They are clinging to desire, hatred, and ignorance. They are clinging to the various views. They are clinging up to enlightenment, therefore they are called childish. Petitioner: Blessed One, is it the case that a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who studies in this way does not study the Perfection of Wisdom and will not attain omniscience? The Blessed One replied: Shariputra, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who studies in this way does not study the Perfection of Wisdom and will not attain omniscience. Petitioner: Blessed One, why is that?

Then, that Bodhisattva does not study the Perfection of Wisdom. He does not become the All-knowingness. The Blessed One said: Shariputra, in this case, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, due to unskilled means, makes distinctions about the Perfection of Wisdom. He clings to it. He makes distinctions about the Perfection of Concentration. He clings to it. He makes distinctions about the Perfection of Diligence. He clings to it. He makes distinctions about the Perfection of Patience. He clings to it. He makes distinctions about the Perfection of Discipline. He clings to it. He makes distinctions about the Perfection of Generosity. He clings to it. Likewise, he makes distinctions about Concentration, and the Immeasurable, and the Formless Absorptions. He clings to them. He makes distinctions about the Mindfulness, and the Right Exertions, and the Legs of Miraculous Power, and the Faculties, and the Powers, and the Limbs of Enlightenment, and the Path. He clings to them. He makes distinctions about the Ten Powers of the Tathagata, and the Four Fearlessnesses, and the Four Specific Knowledges, and the Eighteen Unshared Dharmas of the Buddha. He clings to them, up to all Dharmas, and the All-knowingness. He clings to them. Shariputra, by these names, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva does not study the Perfection of Wisdom. He does not become the All-knowingness. This is called the sixth distinction, which is the distinction of not abiding in the Noble Path. Asked: Blessed One, how should a Bodhisattva Mahasattva train, so that he will definitely become the All-knowingness, and what kind of study is the Perfection of Wisdom? The Blessed One said: Shariputra, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, if he does not fixate on the Perfection of Wisdom and does not correctly follow and observe it, then he should train in this way. The Bodhisattva Mahasattva, in a non-fixating manner,
