Pa. Shariputra, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who trains in this way trains in a manner that does not focus on the Perfection of Wisdom. He trains in a manner that does not focus on the Perfection of Meditation, the Perfection of Diligence, the Perfection of Patience, the Perfection of Discipline, and the Perfection of Generosity. He trains in a manner that does not focus on the aspects of enlightenment, as well as meditation, the immeasurables, the formless absorptions, the ten powers, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, and even the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha. Then, the venerable Shariputra asked the Blessed One, "Blessed One, is it the case that a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who trains in the Perfection of Wisdom in this way trains in a manner that does not focus on it?" The Blessed One replied, "Shariputra, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who trains in the Perfection of Wisdom in this way trains in a manner that does not focus on it." Shariputra asked, "Blessed One, why does he not focus on it?" The Blessed One replied, "Shariputra, because of utter purity, he does not focus on self. Because of utter purity, he does not focus on sentient beings, life, nurturer, person, individual, force-born, mind-born, doer, feeler, knower, or seer. Because of utter purity, he does not focus on suffering. Because of utter purity, he does not focus on origin, cessation, or path. Because of utter purity, he does not focus on the desire realm. Because of utter purity, he does not focus on the form realm. Because of utter purity, he does not focus on the formless realm. Because of utter purity, he does not focus on meditation, the immeasurables, or the formless absorptions. Because of utter purity, he does not focus on the mindfulnesses, the perfect abandonments, the bases of miraculous power, the faculties, the powers, the limbs of enlightenment, or the path.

For the sake of purity, one does not fixate on the perfections. For the sake of extreme purity, one does not fixate on the ten powers, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, and the ten powers of the Tathagata. For the sake of extreme purity, one does not fixate on the unshared qualities of the Buddha. For the sake of extreme purity, one does not fixate on the stream-enterer. For the sake of extreme purity, one does not fixate on the once-returner, the non-returner, the Arhat, and the Pratyekabuddha. For the sake of extreme purity, one does not fixate on the Bodhisattva. For the sake of extreme purity, one does not fixate on Bodhi. For the sake of extreme purity, one does not fixate on the Buddha. Question: Blessed One, what is purity? The Blessed One replied: All dharmas are unborn, without arising, without object, and without manifest action; this is called purity. Shariputra, in this way, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva trains in the manner of not fixating on all dharmas, which is taught in terms of general conceptualization. Question: Blessed One, what dharmas does the Bodhisattva Mahasattva who trains in this way train in? The Blessed One replied: Shariputra, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva who trains in this way does not train in any dharma. Why is that? Shariputra, these dharmas do not have such an appearance as how childish ordinary beings manifestly cling to them. Question: Blessed One, then what is the appearance of these dharmas? The Blessed One replied: They exist as if swallowed; because they do not exist in that way, they are called non-existent. This is the first ignorance conceptualization that belongs to the heat-related conceptualization. Question: Blessed One, why is it called non-existent because it is not existent? The Blessed One replied: Shariputra, because form is not existent due to the emptiness within, and the emptiness of the nature of non-things. Feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness
