To teach in such a way, and the feeling arising from the condition of contact of the ear's union, and the feeling arising from the condition of contact of the nose's union, and the feeling arising from the condition of contact of the tongue's union, and the feeling arising from the condition of contact of the body's union, and the feeling arising from the condition of contact of the mind's union, to teach as impermanent, to teach as suffering, to teach as selflessness, to teach as peace, to teach as solitude, to teach as emptiness, to teach as signlessness, to teach as wishlessness, to contemplate in such a way; and among the mindfulnesses, to teach as impermanent, to teach as suffering, to teach as selflessness, to teach as peace, to teach as solitude, to teach as emptiness, to teach as signlessness, to teach as wishlessness, to contemplate in such a way; likewise, the right abandonments, and the feet of miracles, and the faculties, and the powers, and the limbs of enlightenment, and the eightfold noble path, to teach as impermanent; among the unmixed qualities of the Buddhas, to teach as impermanent, to teach as suffering, to teach as selflessness, to teach as peace, to teach as solitude, to teach as emptiness, to teach as signlessness, to teach as wishlessness, to teach in such a way of contemplation, such deeds of demons who do not speak or teach, should be recognized as evil companions of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva. Thus, it should be recognized as an evil companion of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, and having known this, one should completely abandon it, this is the second kind of holding, held by the virtuous friend. These show the four limbs of ascertainment. Then the venerable Subhuti asked the Blessed One: Blessed One, Bodhisattva Bodhisattva, what is the meaning of this word? When he asked this, the Blessed One said to the venerable Subhuti: Subhuti, the meaning of the word Bodhisattva is that the meaning of the word is non-existent, why is that? For in Bodhi, there is no birth, or existence, or non-existence, being or non-being are not objects of focus, Subhuti, therefore the meaning of the word Bodhisattva is non-existent, this is the nature of the lineage itself.
