Therefore, one should abide in this. Subhuti, furthermore, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva abiding in the fourth bhumi should take up and abide in these ten dharmas, and should not abandon them. Which ten? Namely: abiding in a solitary place, having few desires, being content, not abandoning the qualities of cultivation and the means, not abandoning the training, reproaching the qualities of desire, generating a mind in accordance with nirvana, completely giving away all possessions, having no timid mind, and not relying on all things. Subhuti, these ten dharmas are what a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva abiding in the fourth bhumi should not abandon, and should truly take up and abide in. One should not be disturbed, and one should completely abandon the mind of disturbance. Subhuti, those six dharmas are to be completely abandoned by a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who abides in the sixth ground. Furthermore, Subhuti, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who abides in the seventh ground should not engage in twenty dharmas. What are the twenty? They are as follows: One should not cling to a self. One should not cling to sentient beings. One should not cling to life. One should not cling to a person. One should not cling to annihilation. One should not cling to permanence. The perception of signs. Looking to causes. Manifest attachment to name and form. Manifest attachment to aggregates. Manifest attachment to elements. Manifest attachment to sense bases. Abiding in the three realms. Manifest clinging to the three realms. Relying on the three realms. Manifest attachment to views that rely on the Buddha. Manifest attachment to views that rely on the Dharma. Manifest attachment to views that rely on the Sangha. Manifest attachment to views that rely on discipline. Becoming dejected that all dharmas are empty, and contradicting emptiness. Subhuti, these twenty dharmas are not to be engaged in by a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who abides in the seventh ground. Therefore, one should perfect these twenty dharmas. What are the twenty? One should perfect emptiness. One should realize the signless. One should understand the wishless. The three circles are completely pure. Compassion and love for all sentient beings. One should not despise those sentient beings. One should view all dharmas as equality, and one should not be manifestly attached to that either. One should thoroughly understand the true nature, and one should not boast about that either. Knowing non-arising. Teaching all dharmas in one way. Clearly illuminating true realization. Reversing views. Reversing afflictions. Focusing on quiescence. Being skilled in insight. Taming the mind. Having unobstructed knowledge of all things. Not being a place of attachment. Going to any field one desires, and there also abiding in the mandala of the Buddha's retinue, showing one's own objects. Subhuti, these twenty dharmas are those of a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who abides in the seventh ground.
