Then, "Ja" is said to be the door to all dharmas because it does not focus on joy. "Tse" is said to be the door to all dharmas because it does not focus on conduct. "Ta" is said to be the door to all dharmas because it does not focus on harm. "Ha" is said to be the door to all dharmas because it does not focus on self-grasping. Beyond that, there are no terms for letters. Why is that? Because there is nothing to be named, nothing to be expressed, nothing to be indicated, nothing to be understood, and no name for what is seen. Subhuti, all dharmas should be understood as being like the sky. Subhuti, this is entering the door of dharani, which is entering the teaching of the letter A and so on. Furthermore, Subhuti, if any Bodhisattva Mahasattva is skilled in the letter A and so on, he will not be obstructed by any sound, and he will establish all of them as the nature of equality, and he will gain skill in understanding sound. Subhuti, any Bodhisattva who listens to and hears, holds, recites, and fully understands these seals of the letter A and so on, and also shows them to others with proper mindfulness, should know that he has twenty benefits. What are the twenty? That is, he will be endowed with mindfulness, endowed with intelligence, endowed with understanding. He will be endowed with intelligence, endowed with steadfastness, endowed with shame, endowed with wisdom, endowed with courage, and this door of dharani will also be obtained with little effort. He will be without doubt, without hesitation, and even if he hears pleasant words, he will not be attached, and he will not be angry with harsh words, and he will not be arrogant or humble, but will remain as it is. He will be skilled in sound, skilled in aggregates, skilled in elements, skilled in sources, skilled in truths, skilled in dependent origination, and skilled in causes.

and become skilled in causes, and become skilled in conditions, and become skilled in the nature of phenomena, and become skilled in knowing the superior and non-superior faculties, and become skilled in knowing the minds of others, and become skilled in knowing the activities of magical powers, and become skilled in divine ear consciousness, and become skilled in knowing the recollection of past lives, and become skilled in knowing death and birth, and become skilled in knowing the exhaustion of defilements, and become skilled in knowing the teaching of what is and is not the case, and become skilled in going and skilled in returning, and become skilled in conduct. These twenty benefits will be obtained. Subhuti, this entrance into the letter A (Sanskrit: A, Devanagari: अ, Roman transliteration: a, literal meaning: A) and so forth, which is the door of the Dharani, is also called the Great Vehicle of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva by way of that non-objectification, and it is a collection of Dharanis. The Collection of Grounds. Subhuti, if you were to say, "How does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva truly enter the Great Vehicle?" Subhuti, in this case, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva engages in the six perfections and leaps from ground to ground. Subhuti, how does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva engage in the six perfections and leap from ground to ground? It is like this: because all phenomena are without change. Why is that? Because no phenomenon comes or goes, or changes, or nearly changes. However, one does not boast about whatever all phenomena are, and one does not think about it, and one also cultivates all grounds, and one does not truly see that ground either. What is the cultivation of all grounds by the Bodhisattva Mahasattva? Subhuti, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva abiding on the first ground should do these ten cultivations. What are the ten? That is, cultivating superior intention by way of non-objectification, and cultivating beneficial things because of non-objectifying characteristics, and cultivating equanimity of mind towards all sentient beings because of non-objectifying sentient beings, and cultivating giving because of non-objectifying giving, giving away, and receiving, and he does not boast.
