Remaining in going, staying, sitting, and lying down, walking or returning also conduct themselves with mindfulness. Looking comprehensively or looking distinctly also conduct themselves with mindfulness. Contracting and stretching, wearing the monastic skirt and carrying the alms bowl, wearing the robes, eating and drinking, chewing, sleeping, dispelling drowsiness, coming and going, standing and sitting, lying down, waking from sleep, awakening, speaking and not speaking, and when abiding inwardly and correctly, also conduct themselves with mindfulness. Subhuti, in this way, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva is diligent and possesses mindfulness, possessing mindfulness, thereby eliminating attachment and displeasure towards the world, and abiding on the inner body, contemplating the body, yet in a way that does not conceptualize, does not conceptualize the conceptualizations related to the body. Subhuti, furthermore, when the Bodhisattva Mahasattva breathes out with mindfulness, they truly know that they are breathing out with mindfulness. When they breathe in with mindfulness, they truly know that they are breathing in with mindfulness. When breathing out long, they truly know that they are breathing out long. When breathing in long, they truly know that they are breathing in long. When breathing out short, they truly know that they are breathing out short. When breathing in short, they truly know that they are breathing in short. Subhuti, for example, when a potter or a skilled assistant of a potter turns a wheel, they truly know that they are turning it long when turning it long. When turning it short, they truly know that they are turning it short. Subhuti, similarly, when the Bodhisattva Mahasattva breathes out with mindfulness, they truly know that they are breathing out with mindfulness. When they breathe in with mindfulness, they truly know that they are breathing in with mindfulness.

also fully understands. When a long breath comes out, he truly knows that a long breath comes out. When a short breath comes out, he truly knows that a short breath comes out. When a short breath enters inward, he truly knows that a short breath enters inward. When a short breath is inhaled, he truly knows that a short breath is inhaled. Subhuti, thus, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, endowed with diligence, endowed with mindfulness, having eliminated attachment and displeasure towards the world, abides contemplating the body in his own body, yet without clinging, he does not conceptualize the conceptualizations associated with the body. Furthermore, Subhuti, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, he understands that within this very body there are the earth element, the water element, the fire element, and the wind element, and he truly understands each of the elements individually as they are. Subhuti, for example, just as a skilled butcher or a butcher's apprentice slaughters a cow with a sharp knife and divides it into four parts. After dividing it into four parts, he stands or sits and thoroughly examines it, similarly, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, he also understands that within this very body there are the earth element, the water element, the fire element, and the wind element, and he thoroughly understands each of the elements individually as they are. Furthermore, Subhuti, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, he understands that within this very body, from the soles of the feet up to the crown of the head, there are hairs, brains, nails, body hairs, and skin, filled with various kinds of impurities.
