If a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva thinks of selflessness, he is practicing with characteristics. World Honored One, if a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva thinks like this: "Whoever practices in this way is practicing the Perfection of Wisdom." If he thinks that this is the limit of the Perfection of Wisdom, he is practicing with characteristics. It should be known that he is a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who is unskilled in means. Then, the Venerable Shariputra said to the Venerable Subhuti: "Venerable Subhuti, how should it be known that this Bodhisattva-Mahasattva is unskilled in means?" Subhuti said: "Shariputra, when a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, if he dwells in form, and has increased faith and understanding, and has complete knowledge, if he dwells in feeling, and has increased faith and understanding, and has complete knowledge, if he dwells in perception, and has increased faith and understanding, and has complete knowledge, if he dwells in formations, and has increased faith and understanding, and has complete knowledge, if he dwells in consciousness, and has increased faith and understanding, and has complete knowledge, he dwells in form, and has increased faith and understanding, and has complete knowledge, if he dwells in feeling, and has increased faith and understanding, and has complete knowledge, if he dwells in perception, and has increased faith and understanding, and has complete knowledge, if he dwells in formations, and has increased faith and understanding, and has complete knowledge, if he dwells in consciousness, and has increased faith and understanding, and has complete knowledge, he is practicing the manifestation and fabrication of form. Feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness are practicing manifestation and fabrication, therefore, he is not liberated from birth, old age, sickness, death, sorrow, lamentation, suffering, displeasure, and distress, it is said that he cannot be liberated from great suffering.
