Because the nature of consciousness is emptiness, arising or definitely arising in it is also not visible. Venerable Shariputra, formations are empty of the nature of formations, so arising or definitely arising in them is also not visible. Venerable Shariputra, consciousness is empty of the nature of consciousness, so arising or definitely arising in it is also not visible. Similarly, up to the limit of aggregates, elements, sense bases, dependent origination, and Suchness, the nature of Suchness is also emptiness, so arising or definitely arising in it is also not visible. Venerable Shariputra, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who thus practices the Perfection of Wisdom is close to omniscience. As he approaches omniscience, he will attain complete purity of body, complete purity of speech, complete purity of mind, and complete purity of name. As he attains complete purity of body, complete purity of speech, complete purity of mind, and complete purity of name, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva will not generate a mind with desire, will not generate a mind with hatred, will not generate a mind with delusion, will not generate a mind with pride, will not generate a mind with deceit and trickery, with jealousy and stinginess, with craving, and with wrong views. He does not generate a mind of desire, and does not generate a mind of hatred, delusion, pride, deceit, trickery, jealousy, stinginess, craving, or wrong views, so he will never be born from a mother's womb, but will always be born miraculously without interruption. Except for the purpose of maturing sentient beings, he will never be born in the lower realms. He goes from Buddha-field to Buddha-field, and also serves and honors the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, and also matures sentient beings, and also practices in the Buddha-fields, and then unsurpassed

Until the attainment of perfect and complete enlightenment and Buddhahood, they will never be separated from the Buddhas, the Bhagavat. Shariputra, the noble son, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who thus practices the Perfection of Wisdom is close to the All-Knowingness. This is the distinction between the object and the aspect of the middling forbearance. Then, the venerable Subhuti said to the Bhagavan: O Bhagavan, if a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, while practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, due to unskilled means, practices form, he practices signs and does not practice the Perfection of Wisdom. If he practices feeling, he practices signs. If he practices perception, he practices signs. If he practices formations, he practices signs. If he practices consciousness, he practices signs and does not practice the Perfection of Wisdom. If he practices form as permanent or impermanent, he practices signs and does not practice the Perfection of Wisdom. If he practices feeling as permanent or impermanent, he practices signs. If he practices perception as permanent or impermanent, he practices signs. If he practices formations as permanent or impermanent, he practices signs. If he practices consciousness as permanent or impermanent, he practices signs and does not practice the Perfection of Wisdom. If he practices form as pleasurable or painful, he practices signs and does not practice the Perfection of Wisdom. If he practices feeling as pleasurable or painful, he practices signs. If he practices perception as pleasurable or painful, he practices signs. If he practices formations as pleasurable or painful, he practices signs. If one practices by calling it 'selflessness,' then one practices in characteristics. If one practices by calling perception 'self' or 'selflessness,' then one practices in characteristics. If one practices by calling formations 'self' or 'selflessness,' then one practices in characteristics. Similarly, if one practices within the superknowledges, the perfections, the meditations, the immeasurables, the formless absorptions, the five eyes, the ten powers of the Tathagata, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, and the unshared qualities of the Buddha, then one practices in characteristics; one does not practice in the Perfection of Wisdom.
