No. The suchness of the eye is not, the suchness of the ear is not, the suchness of the nose is not, the suchness of the tongue is not, the suchness of the body is not, the suchness of the mind is not. The suchness of form is not, the suchness of sound is not, the suchness of smell is not, the suchness of taste is not, the suchness of touch is not, the suchness of dharmas is not. The suchness of ignorance is not, the suchness of formations is not, the suchness of consciousness is not, the suchness of name and form is not, the suchness of the six sense bases is not, the suchness of contact is not, the suchness of feeling is not, the suchness of craving is not, the suchness of grasping is not, the suchness of becoming is not, the suchness of birth is not, the suchness of aging and death is not, from the aggregates, elements, and sense bases to the suchness of dependent origination, the Bodhisattva is not. Eighth Chapter. Subhuti inquired: Bhagavan, the Bodhisattva is utterly non-existent and invisible, therefore, how can form become a Bodhisattva? How can feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness become a Bodhisattva? Bhagavan, the Bodhisattva is utterly non-existent and invisible, therefore, how can the eye and form, and the consciousness of the eye, become a Bodhisattva? Similarly, the ear and sound and the consciousness of the ear, the nose and smell and the consciousness of the nose, the tongue and taste and the consciousness of the tongue, the body and touch and the consciousness of the body, the mind and dharmas and the consciousness of the mind, how can these become a Bodhisattva? Bhagavan, the Bodhisattva is utterly non-existent and invisible, therefore, how can the earth element become a Bodhisattva? Similarly, the water element, the fire element, the wind element, the space element, and the consciousness element, how can these become a Bodhisattva? The past Bodhisattva is completely non-existent and invisible. Therefore, how could one possibly observe the suchness of this form? Similarly, how could the suchness of sound, smell, taste, touch, and dharma be observed? World Honored One, the Bodhisattva is completely non-existent and invisible. Therefore, how could one possibly observe the suchness of this ignorance? Similarly, how could the suchness of formations, consciousness, name, form, the six sense sources, contact, feeling, craving, grasping, existence, birth, and old age and death be observed? World Honored One, in this way, for the aggregates, elements, sense sources, and dependent origination, whether each one individually or all together, the Bodhisattva is completely non-existent and invisible. Therefore, how could one possibly observe the suchness of the aggregates, elements, and sense sources? That is impossible. The World Honored One spoke: "Well done! Well done! Subhuti, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva should thus not fixate on beings, and should train in the non-fixation of the Prajnaparamita, which is the subsequent knowledge of cessation. Subhuti, what do you think? Is the term 'Bodhisattva' merely a designation for form? Subhuti, what do you think? Is the term 'Bodhisattva' merely a designation for feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness?" He replied, "World Honored One, it is not so." The World Honored One said, "Subhuti, what do you think? Is the term 'Bodhisattva' merely a designation for whether form is permanent or impermanent? Is the term 'Bodhisattva' merely a designation for whether form is pleasurable or painful, whether form has self or is without self, whether form is peaceful or not peaceful? Subhuti, what do you think? Is the term 'Bodhisattva' merely a designation for whether feeling is permanent or impermanent? Is the term 'Bodhisattva' merely a designation for whether feeling is pleasurable or painful, whether feeling has self or is without self, whether feeling
