Buddhas are not to be fixated upon as appearing in the present. Solitary Buddhas are not to be fixated upon as the equality of the three times. Why is that? Because beings are not to be fixated upon. Furthermore, Subhuti, Bodhisattvas are not to be fixated upon as the limit of the past. Bodhisattvas are not to be fixated upon as the limit of the future. Bodhisattvas are not to be fixated upon as appearing in the present. Bodhisattvas are not to be fixated upon as the equality of the three times. Why is that? Because beings are not to be fixated upon. Twenty-second Chapter Furthermore, Subhuti, the Tathagata is not to be fixated upon as the limit of the past. The Tathagata is not to be fixated upon as the limit of the future. The Tathagata is not to be fixated upon as appearing in the present. The Tathagata is not to be fixated upon as the equality of the three times. Why is that? Because beings are not to be fixated upon. Subhuti, thus, Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas, abiding in the Perfection of Wisdom, should train in the equality of the three times and completely perfect all-aspect knowledge. Subhuti, this Great Vehicle of Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas is called the Great Vehicle of the equality of the three times. Abiding in it, Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas will overwhelm the world with its gods, humans, and asuras, and will definitely attain all-aspect knowledge, which is the definite attainment of transcendence. The Definite Attainment of Obtaining Then, the venerable Subhuti said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, Blessed One, it is excellent that you have so well spoken of the Great Vehicle of Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas, called the equality of the three times! Excellent! Blessed One, having trained in this Great Vehicle, the past Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas have also attained all-aspect knowledge. Blessed One, the future Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas will also train in this Perfection of Wisdom and attain all-aspect knowledge.

Those great courageous Bodhisattvas also learn in this Great Vehicle and attain all-knowingness. O Bhagavan, for that reason, this is the Great Vehicle of the Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas, namely, the equality of the three times. After thus requesting, the Bhagavan said to the venerable Subhuti: Subhuti, it is just so, it is just so. Having learned in this Great Vehicle, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas of the past, future, and present have attained all-knowingness. They have attained, they are attaining, and they will attain. Then, the venerable Maitreya's son, Jangbo, said to the Bhagavan: O Bhagavan, the venerable Subhuti has been appointed by the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Awakened One, to expound the Prajnaparamita, and I think that this is teaching the Great Vehicle. Then, the venerable Subhuti said to the Bhagavan: O Bhagavan, am I teaching the Great Vehicle in a way that is contrary to the Prajnaparamita? The Bhagavan said: Subhuti, it is not so. Subhuti, you are teaching the Great Vehicle in accordance with the Prajnaparamita. Why is that? Subhuti, because all virtuous dharmas, whatever aspect of enlightenment they may be, whether they are the dharmas of the Hearers, or the dharmas of the Solitary Buddhas, or the dharmas of the Bodhisattvas, or the dharmas of the Buddhas, all of these are included and contained within the Prajnaparamita. Subhuti asked: O Bhagavan, which virtuous dharmas, which aspects of enlightenment, are included and contained within the Prajnaparamita? Which are the dharmas of the Hearers, the dharmas of the Solitary Buddhas, the dharmas of the Bodhisattvas, and the dharmas of the Buddhas? The Bhagavan said: For example, the four mindfulnesses, the four right abandonments, the four legs of miraculous power, the five faculties, the five powers, the seven branches of enlightenment, and the eightfold noble path.
