Do it in the manner of the earth. Furthermore, Subhuti, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, practicing in the Perfection of Wisdom, abides in the emptiness of the internal, abides in the emptiness of the external, abides in the emptiness of both internal and external, and even abides between the emptiness of the nature of non-things, doing it in a way that does not focus on becoming the supreme of the great mass of sentient beings and the great collection of sentient beings. Furthermore, Subhuti, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, practicing in the Perfection of Wisdom, abides in the Dharma aspects of enlightenment, the ten powers of the Tathagata, the four fearlessnesses, the various perfect knowledges, great love, great compassion, and the eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddha, doing it in a way that does not focus on becoming the supreme of the great mass of sentient beings and the great collection of sentient beings. Furthermore, Subhuti, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, practicing in the Perfection of Wisdom, abides in the Samadhi of Heroic Progress, like the sky, without attachment, and even abides between the Samadhi of liberation and without defilement, doing it in a way that does not focus on becoming the supreme itself of the great mass of sentient beings and the great collection of sentient beings. Subhuti, abiding in these Dharmas and the Bodhisattva Mahasattva practicing in the Perfection of Wisdom, abiding in these Dharmas, should become the supreme itself of the great assembly of sentient beings and the great collection of sentient beings. Therefore, it is said to be a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, the great mind of the Bodhisattva itself, the supreme of all sentient beings. The Great Chapter. Then, the Venerable Shariputra said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, for what reason is one called a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, I also dare to speak. The Blessed One said: Shariputra, for what reason is one called a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, you should dare to speak. Shariputra said: Blessed One, viewing self as self, viewing sentient beings as sentient beings, viewing life as life, viewing the born as the born.

And, viewing it as healing, viewing it as a husband, viewing it as a person, viewing it as born of power, viewing it as a son of power, viewing it as the doer, viewing it as the feeler, viewing it as the knower, viewing it as the seer, viewing it as annihilation, viewing it as permanence, viewing it as existence, viewing it as non-existence, viewing it as aggregates, viewing it as realms, viewing it as sources, viewing it as dependent origination, viewing it as perfections, viewing it as aspects of enlightenment, viewing it as powers, viewing it as fearlessness, viewing it as the unshared qualities of the Buddha, viewing it as maturing beings, viewing it as purifying Buddha-fields, viewing it as discriminating enlightenment, viewing it as the Buddha, viewing it as the Dharma, viewing it as the Sangha, viewing it as turning the wheel of Dharma. In order to completely abandon all these views, even when teaching the Dharma to beings, it is done in a non-attached manner. Therefore, they are called Bodhisattva Mahasattvas. Then, the venerable Subhuti said this to the venerable Shariputra: Venerable Shariputra, why is it that a Bodhisattva Mahasattva becomes attached to form? And attached to feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness, and even attached to turning the wheel of Dharma? The Blessed One said: Venerable Subhuti, here, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, due to unskillful means, they fixate on form, and generate views in a fixated manner. They fixate on feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness, and generate views in a fixated manner. Similarly, they broadly fixate on sources, realms, and dependent origination, whether separate or combined, and generate views in a fixated manner. Likewise, they fixate on the four mindfulnesses, the four right abandonments, the four legs of miraculous power, the faculties, the powers, the branches of enlightenment, the eightfold noble path, the perfections, the letters, and so on.

Meditating on the dhyanas, the immeasurables, and the formless absorptions, one generates views by focusing and the manner of focusing. One generates views by focusing and the manner of focusing on liberation, the nine successive abidings, emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, direct knowledge, samadhi, the gateways of dharani, the ten powers of the Tathagata, the four fearlessnesses, the individual perfect knowledges, and the unmixed qualities of the Buddha. One generates views by focusing and the manner of focusing until the turning of the wheel of Dharma. Therefore, venerable Subhuti, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva contemplates form. He contemplates feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness. He contemplates until the turning of the wheel of Dharma. When a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, through skillful means, in order to abandon those aspects of views, teaching the Dharma in a non-objective manner is indeed a great abandonment. Great Realization. Then, the venerable Subhuti said to the Blessed One: "Blessed One, for what reason is a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva called as such? I also rejoice in that." The Blessed One replied: "Subhuti, you should rejoice." Subhuti asked: "Blessed One, is it because the mind that is unequal to and equal to the mind of enlightenment, the mind that is not common to all Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, the mind that is without outflows and does not belong to the three realms, is also empty in its own nature, and therefore without attachment, that it is counted among the Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas?" Why is that? Because that mind is not a mind, therefore there is no attachment to it. Then, the venerable Shariputra said to the venerable Subhuti: "Venerable Subhuti, the mind of a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, unequal and equal, is not a mind common to all Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas.
