Letters are not. Apart from emptiness, there are no letters. Letters themselves are emptiness. Emptiness itself is letters. World-Honored One, therefore, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, he does not abide in letters. World-Honored One, furthermore, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, he does not abide in supernormal knowledges. What is the reason for this? World-Honored One, it is because supernormal knowledges are empty by supernormal knowledges themselves. The emptiness of supernormal knowledges is also not supernormal knowledges.

Consciousness itself is impermanent. O Blessed One, therefore, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, should not abide in the thought that "consciousness is impermanent." Similarly, one should not abide in the thought that "form is suffering." Why is that? O Blessed One, because the very nature of the suffering of form is empty of the very nature of the suffering of form. That which is the emptiness of the very nature of the suffering of form is not the very nature of the suffering of form. Apart from emptiness, there is no very nature of the suffering of form. The very nature of the suffering of form is emptiness; emptiness itself is the very nature of the suffering of form. O Blessed One, therefore, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, should not abide in the thought that "form is suffering." Feeling, perception, volition, and consciousness are also suffering; one should not abide in this thought. Why is that? O Blessed One, because the very nature of the suffering of consciousness is empty of the very nature of the suffering of consciousness. That which is the emptiness of the very nature of the suffering of consciousness is not the very nature of the suffering of consciousness. Apart from emptiness, there is no very nature of the suffering of consciousness. O Blessed One, therefore, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, should not abide in the thought that "consciousness is suffering." Similarly, one should not abide in the thought that "form is without self." Why is that? O Blessed One, because the very nature of the selflessness of form is empty of the very nature of the selflessness of form. That which is the emptiness of the very nature of the selflessness of form is not the very nature of the selflessness of form.
