When any corpses are abandoned in the charnel ground, devoured, unclean, rotten, and emitting a foul odor, seeing these, (one thinks) this body is also of such a nature, such a self-nature, and will not transcend such a law. Therefore, one should also closely associate this body with that state. Subhuti, therefore, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, being diligent, knowing, and mindful, eliminates attachment and displeasure towards the world, and engages in body contemplation on the external body, and even while abiding in it, does not conceptually arise with regard to the discriminations related to the body in a non-attached manner. Subhuti, furthermore, when the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, if in the charnel ground one sees strings of skeletons, piles of flesh and blood, and sternums connected by tendons, (one thinks) this body is also of such a nature, such a self-nature, and will not transcend such a law. Subhuti, furthermore, when the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, if in the charnel ground one sees bones without flesh and blood, without the nourishment of tendons, and turned like the color of a conch shell, (one thinks) this body is also of such a nature, such a self-nature, and will not transcend such a law. Seventeenth Chapter Subhuti, furthermore, when the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom,

When practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, if one sees in a charnel ground a collection of skeletons, devoid of flesh and blood, separated and turned the color of conch shells, scattered on the ground, then one should relate this body to that state, thinking, 'This body is also of such a nature, of such a characteristic, not separate from such a dharma.' Subhuti, thus a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, endowed with diligence, endowed with mindfulness, endowed with awareness, having completely eliminated attachment and displeasure towards the world, dwells contemplating the body on the external body, but without fixating on it, not conceptually engaging with the conceptualizations associated with the body. Furthermore, Subhuti, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, if they see bones in a charnel ground scattered in various directions and intermediate directions, such as the bones of the feet in one place, the bones of the shins in another, the bones of the thighs in another, the bones of the hips in another, the bones of the joints in another, the bones of the ribs in another, the bones of the neck in another, the bones of the arms in another, and the bones of the head scattered in another place, then they should relate this body to that state, thinking, 'This body is also of such a nature, of such a characteristic, not separate from such a dharma.' Subhuti, thus a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, when practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, endowed with diligence, endowed with mindfulness, endowed with awareness, having completely eliminated attachment and displeasure towards the world, dwells contemplating the body on the external body, but without fixating on it, not conceptually engaging with the conceptualizations associated with the body. Furthermore, Subhuti, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, if they see bones in a charnel ground that are many years old, scorched by the wind and sun, and turned the color of conch shells, then they should relate this body to that state, thinking, 'This body is also of such a nature, of such a characteristic, not separate from such a dharma.' Subhuti, thus a Bo
