Turning away from the mental activity associated with omniscience and engaging in mindfulness, engaging in right efforts, engaging in the foundations of miraculous power, engaging in the faculties, engaging in the powers, engaging in the limbs of enlightenment, engaging in the eightfold noble path, and engaging in the dharmas between emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness. Thus, son of good family, if you cultivate these dharmas and realize the Hearer's ground, what use is unsurpassed perfect enlightenment to you? Such demonic deeds that do not speak or indicate this should be recognized as evil friends of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva. Furthermore, Subhuti, evil demons take on the appearance of fathers and mothers and go to the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, saying, 'What use is it to you to awaken to unsurpassed perfect enlightenment? For that purpose, you will wander in samsara for immeasurable and countless eons, and you will be tormented by having your hands, feet, and head cut off countless times. You should strive to realize the fruit of stream-entry, the fruit of once-returning, the fruit of non-returning, and the fruit of Arhatship.' Such demonic deeds that do not speak or indicate this should be recognized as evil friends of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva. Furthermore, Subhuti, evil demons take on the appearance of monks and go to the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, teaching by way of focusing on the fact that form is impermanent, form is suffering, selfless, peaceful, solitary, empty, signless, and wishless; and teaching by way of focusing on the fact that feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness are impermanent, consciousness is suffering, selfless, peaceful, solitary, empty, signless, and wishless.
