When practicing the Prajñāpāramitā, one should not abide in suchness, etc., as has been said. The emptiness of inherent existence of suchness, etc., is a distinction of aspect, as it is said: "Bhagavan, thus, suchness is empty of inherent existence." Suchness, etc., and its emptiness, being mutually of the same essence, is a distinction of aspect, as it is said: "Bhagavan, whatever is suchness, is emptiness; it is not other than suchness, and suchness is not other than emptiness; emptiness is also suchness. Suchness is also," etc., as has been said. Here too, it should be understood that both pervade both. If that is the case, is there no difference in meaning? That which is not other in meaning is suchness, and the antidote to becoming a view is emptiness. Thus, the absence of distinction in meaning in all things is the nature of reality, and because it is the cause of the noble dharmas, it is the realm of reality. Because it arises with certainty as one, it is the dharma without fault. Because it is not inverted, it is true. Because it goes to the ultimate limit, it is called the limit. From the perspective of the path, it is superior because it focuses on the absence of abiding and non-manifestation. Furthermore, whatever is unskilled in means, with a mind grasping at self and what belongs to self, from the aggregates of form, etc., to the gateways of dhāraṇī, and in accordance with all-knowingness, the practice of the Prajñāpāramitā, abiding in contradiction, and focusing on manifestation are prohibited, as has been shown. The sūtra for this is: "Bhagavan, if a bodhisattva, when practicing the Prajñāpāramitā, is unskilled in means and abides in form with a mind grasping at self and what belongs to self, and furthermore practices manifesting form, then he does not practice the Prajñāpāramitā," and so forth, beginning with that. If one practices without manifesting, then one does not fully grasp the Prajñāpāramitā. That is not the practice of yoga, because it is not complete, therefore it is not certain to be all-knowingness.

It is said up to the point of "arising." Holding completely to form, etc., is superior by way of emptiness, that is, it is shown that the nature of completely holding to those very things is prohibited. The sutra for this is: "Bhagavan, if form is not completely held, then it is not form, because it closely holds emptiness by its very nature," and so on. Among these, abandonment is because the realm of dharma is vast. Not making it seven is because of entering earlier with objects and aspects. The immeasurable itself is the all-knowingness. Determination is because of being extremely determined. Not being common with all such as the Hearers, it is shown as: "It is superior by object, aspect, cause, and complete holding." How all dharmas are not completely held is shown subsequently. In all-knowingness, because all dharmas closely hold emptiness, therefore they are not completely held. The sutra for this is: "Bhagavan, that also does not completely hold in all-knowingness, from inner emptiness to the emptiness of the nature of non-things," and so on. That is said to be without characteristics. Samadhi is one-pointedness of mind, and that is also a mandala, because it gathers other samadhis. Therefore, for the time being, it shows that the peak has become small. As it is said, all-knowingness is said to be without characteristics, like this, characteristics are afflictions. Why are characteristics called afflictions? The aggregates such as form, and the aspects of enlightenment, and the characteristics between the doors of form are afflictions. The sutra for this is: "Form is without characteristics. Feeling is without characteristics," and so on, the doors of dharanis are said to be characteristics, they are afflictions. Its nature should be understood as the nature of falsely imputing what is not true. How is it determined that these characteristics are the afflictions of Bodhisattvas? The characteristics of the wandering sects

As it is said, it is a proof of understanding the antidote to afflictions. As it is said in the sutra, if he clings to the characteristics, then faith will not arise in this teaching of the wandering groups. The example of the groups is that although they are related to the heretics, they arise and, with the power of understanding alone, make that meaning manifest, which is to be known. If it is said that the characteristics of the wisdom of understanding will not be taken away for a while, then it is said: The inner and other phenomena, which prevent the vision of wisdom, are the third kind of prevention. The sutra for this is: Wisdom is not truly seen inwardly, nor is it truly seen outwardly and apart from the outer and inner, etc. Thus, he does not hold any dharma, but holds the non-characteristic mind. Again, why is it that all dharmas are not held? The answer is: Not holding all dharmas is the Perfection of Wisdom. Thus it is shown. As it is said: This is the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Perfection of Wisdom, holding the non-holding of all dharmas. Thus, he has shown the middle. By what? On what basis? By what is a question. Whatever dharma is non-existent and unattainable is the Perfection of Wisdom's approximation, because by reversing the order, those perfections are non-existent and unattainable. Likewise, the aggregates such as form, etc., because of the three knowledges and emptiness, and because there is nothing to be taken and nothing to be attained, thus approaching closely, the mind does not shrink, does not fear, etc., does not abandon, it should be known as the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Perfection of Wisdom. These have shown the great, etc. The sutra for this is: Bhagavan, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, he should not approach closely. What is the Perfection of Wisdom? What is the nature of the Perfection of Wisdom? Whose is this Perfection of Wisdom? Wisdom
