Explanation of Aspects Corresponding to the Decisive Faculty Explanation of Aspects Corresponding to the Decisive Faculty One should speak of the aspects corresponding to the decisive faculty. Furthermore, what should be spoken of in these? Four distinctions from the Hearers and others should be spoken of, namely: the distinction of object, the distinction of aspect, the distinction of cause, and the distinction of complete grasping. The application endowed with conceptualization should also be spoken of. How many conceptualizations should be established in this aspect corresponding to the decisive faculty, the four conceptualizations of grasper and grasped to be abandoned by the path of seeing, which will be explained below? In this, the distinctions of small, medium, and large should be spoken of individually. Therefore: Through object and aspect, Cause and complete grasping, The nature of warmth, etc., of the wise Bodhisattva, As they are, The four conceptualizations are endowed and dependent, Small, medium, and large, Superior to Hearers like rhinoceroses, And those with vows. These two verses are composed to be summarized closely. Through them, with the generation of the mind, instructions, and application following the teachings, and endowed with hearing and contemplation, they obtain superiority. From the nature of cultivating the roots of virtue corresponding to the part of liberation, the roots of virtue corresponding to the decisive faculty called warmth arise. Warmth is similar to warmth, hence it is called warmth, because it is the cause that precedes the arising of the fire of non-conceptual wisdom. It surpasses Hearers and others with four distinctions, namely: the distinction of object is because it focuses on the aspects of the four noble truths such as impermanence. The distinction of aspect is because it is the aspect of not being attached to the aspects of the truths of suffering and origin, and so on. Whoever does not cling to the aggregates of form and so on, which are different, meditating on the aspects of suffering and origin, that is, craving for conforming dharmas is a fault. Not clinging to emptiness and wishlessness in those very things is without fault, as taught.

Yes. This sutra is: Venerable Shariputra, for this Bodhisattva Mahasattva, attachment arises to the impermanence of form, and especially abiding, and completely knowing, and form is suffering, and emptiness, and attachment arises to the selflessness of form, and especially abiding, and completely knowing, similarly, attachment arises to the emptiness of form, and desirelessness, and especially abiding, and completely knowing, and so on, Venerable Shariputra, for this Bodhisattva, craving for the Dharma that accords with it is a fault, and so on. This is temporarily the difference between the object and aspect of realizing the truth of suffering. The difference between the object and aspect of realizing the truth of origin is, as it is said in the sutra: Similarly, this form should be abandoned, such as arising attachment and so on. Among them, for the truth of suffering and the truth of origin, impermanence and so on are taken as objects, and non-attachment and so on are taken as aspects. What is to be said? The Shravakas are attached to the nature of things such as form, which transforms into aspects such as impermanence, because it is not the antidote to the view of self. Bodhisattvas also take the nature of things such as impermanence as objects, and transform into aspects such as non-attachment to them, because it is the antidote to the view of Dharma. Here, not mentioning the absence of characteristics is because it is intended to show the two truths, so it is made from the aspect of entering, because for the absence of characteristics, the Mahayana is a prohibition, and it is the aspect of the truth of the path. After doing so, for what is without characteristics, and for what eliminates the characteristics of conceptual thought, is the aspect of peace, as it is said, that is made from the aspect of the Shravaka path connected with things and characteristics, so there is no contradiction between that and this. For what is said about non-attachment and so on, it should be observed here, if it is temporarily non-attachment, then because it is non-existent, it cannot be used as an antidote.
