It is after other sutras such as the "Inexhaustible Wheel of the Holy One" and the "Flower Ornament Sutra", to follow, observe, and combine them. Because I have abandoned all the numerous texts, I have not listed them in detail. What is called generating the mind (bodhicitta), mind is consciousness and awareness. What is consciousness? It is the consciousness of the mind, because it is from this that the focus on all white dharmas arises. Saying "generating" means to understand that what has not arisen is generated. What is called mind is to be understood as the first beginning of the dharma of realization. Although this is so, what is the connection between those nine impure perceptions and the eight discriminations of the great person, and those previously taught, and the detailed divisions of generating the mind? It is for the purpose of knowing the nature of the non-regression of generating the mind. There are eight reasons for the non-regression of generating the mind: the antidote to desire is impurity. The antidote to wrong livelihood is having few desires and being content. The antidote to true joy and viewing decline is solitude. The antidote to laziness is initiating diligence. The antidote to loss of mindfulness is abiding in mindfulness. The antidote to distraction is samadhi. The antidote to bad wisdom is wisdom. The antidote to the love of various worldly things is the hermitage without elaboration. From the explanation of generating the mind in the "Ornament of Realization", a treatise on the instructions of the Prajnaparamita. The explanation of generating the mind is finished. Explanation of Instructions and Subsequent Instructions Now, instructions are to be spoken. Among them, the oral instruction that enables one to obtain what is to be sought is the instruction. The method of making it non-regressing in order to fully cultivate the qualities obtained is the instruction, and after that, the method of obtaining the qualities not yet obtained is the subsequent instruction. In conclusion, it is taught that this Prajnaparamita is the instruction and subsequent instruction of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva. That instruction also becomes tenfold, as it is said: Instruction What should be done and accomplished, and truth
