Due to abandoning the grounds and the exceptionally sublime realization, it is indeed a great assembly of sentient beings. The characteristic of becoming the pinnacle of the great division of sentient beings is for the sake of causing the unvanquished to be victorious, and for the sake of accomplishing harmonious matters. By showing these actions, one should know that the Bodhisattva is particularly sublime. If asked, what is the difference between the object of focus and the purpose? The object of focus is what arises immediately at that time, while the purpose for sentient beings is what arises later. For example, the Dharma of realizing emptiness is the object of focus. What is long-lasting later is the purpose. The object of focus and the purpose are like an arrow combined with a quiver, and are in accordance with the target and so forth, and the Dharma. The explanation of the aspect of purpose from the Ornament of Clear Realization, the Treatise on the Quintessence of the Perfection of Wisdom, is complete. Explanation of the Aspect of Armor Accomplishment Having explained the basis of accomplishment, the object of focus, and the purpose, now we shall speak of accomplishment. Therein, the action with a white basis is accomplishment. That is, with regard to the divisions of the seven clear realizations, such as all-aspects-knowing, the abandonment, practice, and realization of each clear realization is the meaning of accomplishment. Its divisions are fourfold: armor accomplishment, entering accomplishment, accumulation accomplishment, and definite emergence accomplishment. Considering the six aspects, for the six perfections such as generosity, by summarizing them individually, what is armor accomplishment? The six sets of six are explained as they are. This is what is explained. How is it that there are six in six? For example, the venerable Gangpo generated joy and distributed great armor, starting from "all sentient beings" up to "such a measure," for the sake of the realm of sentient beings that is never cut off, with the armor of skillfully practicing the perfections such as generosity, causing them to attain complete quiescence, and placing them in perfect complete enlightenment, and from "self and others, the perfections" to "those who are unmixed," all are placed. This is distinguished by the great basis of accomplishment itself.

It is the noble one! This is to clarify the reason for the use of the term Bodhisattva Mahasattva. With the intention of possessing the wisdom of the perfection of wisdom, giving alms and donning the armor of the perfection of generosity; being separated from the intention of the hearers and others, donning the armor of practicing the perfection of discipline; enduring, delighting in, and closely realizing these dharmas, donning the armor of the perfection of patience; with the diligence of completely dedicating this root of virtue to the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, donning the armor of the perfection of diligence; with the single-mindedness of not mixing with other vehicles, completely dedicating the root of virtue to the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, donning the armor of the perfection of meditation; abiding closely in the perception of illusion, without clinging to the wisdom of the perfection of wisdom of giving, the giver, and the receiver, donning the armor of the perfection of wisdom. These are the first practice of armor, of which there are six armors of the perfection of generosity. Similarly, practicing the perfection of discipline is the second. Practicing the perfection of patience is the third. Practicing the perfection of diligence is the fourth. Practicing the perfection of meditation is the fifth. Practicing the perfection of wisdom is the sixth. Thus, these six each become six, but because the armors are in harmony with the six dharmas such as generosity, it is said to be the practice of six armors. With the mind of possessing the wisdom of all aspects, donning the great armor of no characteristics and no object, in order to understand the great nature of the armor practice itself, one also enters into meditation and so on, but does not taste their flavors, nor cling to them, nor arise controlled by them.

nor does it involve accepting. Even if one abides by viewing emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness through meditation and so forth, it is not truly advancing towards the ultimate limit, because one has already donned the armor of the Perfection of Wisdom, which includes skillful means. The practice of armor is for the purpose of understanding the greatness of being grasped by skillful means. The reason for proclaiming the praises of the Buddhas of the ten directions and so forth is to understand the greatness of the practice of armor being grasped by a virtuous friend. The Ornament of Clear Realization is a detailed explanation of the practice of armor from the instructional treatises on the Perfection of Wisdom. Detailed Explanation of the Practice of Entering Having explained the practice of armor, the practice of entering will now be discussed. It has two aspects: entering the Great Vehicle and riding it. As the sutra says, "In what way does a Bodhisattva enter the Great Vehicle and ride the Great Vehicle?" Entering the Great Vehicle is the same as riding it, and riding it is also called entering the Great Vehicle. Although they are established with the same name because they have the same meaning, their divisions are ninefold: meditation, the formless realms, generosity, etc.; the path and love, etc.; those with and without signs; those who are completely pure in the three spheres; those with purpose and clairvoyance; and in the manner of all-knowingness. The practice of entering, know that it is riding the Great Vehicle. Thus it is taught. The nine divisions are as follows: entering from the samadhi of meditation and the formless realms, entering the six perfections, entering the immeasurables, entering without signs, entering the complete purity of the three spheres, entering with purpose, entering clairvoyance, and entering all-knowingness. Among these, the practice of arising from the samadhi of meditation and the formless realms is from what is called the perfection of generosity up to the perfection of wisdom.
