It is not caused by conditions. If some consider that what exists by its own nature is called lineage, then since beginningless time in samsara, countless Buddhas like the sands of the Ganges have completely passed into nirvana, but why haven't sentient beings with lineages that exist by their own nature still not passed into nirvana? This is because they possess four faults. As it is said in the scriptures: Afflictions and bad friends, and the freedom of other obstacles. Thus it is said. Also, here it is only considered that what is constantly unceasing is the lineage that exists by its own nature. Others consider the difference of the six sense bases to be the lineage, and this is considered to be of two types: that which arises from the assembly of conditions, and that which exists by its own nature. If the lineage that exists by its own nature is called nature, then it is a synonym for cause. If that is the case, then what is the difference in meaning between "arising from assembly" and that? The synonym for the nature of dharma is also not tainted by the same fault. Alternatively, those lineages are imputed, and because they possess characteristics, there is no connection between that and this. If the dharma realm is the lineage, then because it is all-pervasive, wouldn't everything abide in the lineage? If it is thought in this way, then how is it designated as the cause of the noble dharmas, and thus called lineage? Why speculate excessively here? Even so, because the dharma realm is without difference, lineage cannot be different. Thus it is said, this is the lineage of the Shravakas. This is the lineage of the Pratyekabuddhas. This is the lineage of the Buddhas. Thus it is said. As it is said in the scriptures: Manjushri, if the dharma realm is one, suchness is one, and the ultimate truth is one, How should one examine what is a vessel and what is not a vessel? That is indeed true, but by the distinctions of the dependent dharmas, the differences of the essence are completely proclaimed. Thus it is said. As it is said in that sutra: Venerable Subhuti, for example, a potter makes various different vessels from clay, and some of them become vessels for honey and sugar, some become vessels for ghee, and some become vessels for inferior impure things, but the essence of the vessels is still earth, without difference or distinction.

It has been said that "nothing has been done" and so on. Furthermore, in other sutras it is said: Whatever is unconditioned by anyone, anywhere, that is the unconditioned. Whatever is unconditioned, that is the lineage of the noble ones. That lineage is all-pervasive, without distinction, like space, because the dharmadhatu is of one taste. Because it is permanent and the suchness of dharma, etc., that lineage is permanent. In terms of definite meaning, it is lineage in the sense of generating qualities, because qualities and it arise and originate from that, that is its definition. Having done so, then all noble beings arise from the unconditioned, so it is said. Others say that the sound "go" is earth, and earth is a place. For those beings who live together with a place, the sound "go" is closely attached. Therefore, the word "go" is summarized as sentient beings, and "tra" is protecting them, so the lineage is called "gotra." Or, the direction is called "go," and the beings living in all directions are closely attached to being called "go." Therefore, because go protects, it is called "gotra." Because generating bodhicitta, liberation, and the divisions of discernment must be experienced before these, so first the lineage must be spoken of, this is the order of meaning. And this is speaking of the cause by the effect, so it is the order of speaking. Moreover, other situations in which lineage and the divisions of discernment are consistent will appear, for example, in the Ornament for Clear Realization it says: "Two contradictory disciple lineages, Becoming Buddha, the other three are also like that." The Ornament for Clear Realization is an explanation of the aspects of the support for accomplishment in the instruction manual of the Perfection of Wisdom. Explanation of the teaching of the object of accomplishment The object of reliance as a support will be explained. Again, it is said that the objects are all dharmas, so what are these? "Worldly virtue and non-virtue, The name of worldly realization, And the desire to transcend the world, Dharmas with and without outflows, And conditioned and unconditioned, The common dharmas of hearers, And the powers of the Sugata, etc." For these, worldly virtue
