Attachment is to appearance, and as the antidote, it is not attachment to appearance. Furthermore, how is it dissimilar? It is grasping at existence and non-existence, aroused by untrue pervasive thoughts. How is it the antidote? In any case, those do not exist. Furthermore, how do those not exist? The venerable Shariputra, if it is not mind, then for it, would existence or non-existence become an object? When asked, he retorted, 'Which mind is called no-mind?' This was answered by saying that it has no place and no consciousness. Explaining the objects of the truths of cessation and path, and the differences in aspects, is the fault of being attached to the cessation and path that should be manifested and cultivated. The sutra for this is: 'This cessation should be manifested. By this, cessation should be manifested. This path should be cultivated. By this, the path should be cultivated and there should be no attachment to appearance,' and so on. Among them, 'in this way' refers to the four aspects that are spoken of for each of the truths, such as origination. 'By this' refers to the limbs of enlightenment that have become the cause. By this, cessation and path are explained as the door to liberation without signs, and signs are also of three types: the sign of attachment to what should and should not be practiced among all afflictions and pure dharmas; the sign of abiding in learning about what should and should not be done; and the sign of skillfulness and unskillfulness in generosity and other perfections, and non-perfections, etc. From those, the absence of signs is clearly shown in a reversed manner. For all afflictions and pure dharmas, what should and should not be practiced, what should and should not be done, what should and should not be learned, generosity and other perfections, and other non-perfections, skillfulness and unskillfulness, attachment and abiding, and attention.

That is, attachment to the Dharma that is in accordance with it is called a fault. The sutra of this is: This is all afflictions. This is complete purification. These dharmas should be practiced. These dharmas should not be practiced. This should be practiced. This should not be practiced, from this to no manifest attachment, and so on. This is attachment to the Dharma of conforming thought. To conform means to be attached to the Dharma that enters into customs, which is a synonym for affliction. If one thinks that this fault of the Bodhisattva will become a fault, it is because it is the nature opposite to that which has no fault. Starting from "In the emptiness of the inner, one does not truly see the emptiness of the outer", it is shown that all emptinesses separately prevent each other from seeing each other. The sutra of this is: He does not truly see the emptiness of the outer in the emptiness of the inner. He does not truly see the emptiness of the inner in the emptiness of the outer, and so on. It is said that the nature of cutting off all signs of arrogance is shown from the perspective of the path. It is the prevention of arrogance towards the aggregates such as form, the perfections, the aspects of enlightenment, the various correct knowledge, the powers, the fearlessness, the unique dharmas of the Buddha, the mind of enlightenment, and knowing its name. The sutra of this is: One should train like this, form should be known, up to the Buddhadharmas should be known, and the mind of enlightenment should be known, but one should not be arrogant about it. This clearly shows the object of the truth of the path in particular. Among them, the name of the mind of enlightenment should be known, which means that these are just names. For example, the mind of enlightenment is not a substance, nor is it completely established, it should be viewed in this way. Why? Because the mind is not the mind, but is self-luminous by nature, as it is said: Why is that? Because in this way, the mind is the mind

It is not so, because the nature of mind is clear and luminous. Furthermore, what is the naturally clear and luminous nature of mind? Not being associated with afflictions and not being unassociated is the characteristic of being naturally clear and luminous. As it is said: "O venerable Shariputra, a mind that is associated with desire is not separate from desire; not separate from anger and ignorance; not separate from the mind of a Hearer or a Solitary Realizer." And so forth. Speaking based on the mere assumption of existence and in relation to mental engagement, it is asked: "O venerable Subhuti, is that which exists as mind, not mind?" Therefore, the teaching is: "It is not appropriate to ask whether it is mind or not mind, existence or non-existence." This sutra states: "Furthermore, O venerable Shariputra, if the mind does not exist, is it existent, non-existent, non-existent, or an object of focus?" And so forth. Why is it called "no-mind" in this way? Because being without conceptualization and without change is the characteristic of no-mind. As it is said: "O venerable Shariputra, being without conceptualization and without change is called no-mind." Although the mind is without conceptualization and without change, from the aggregates and so forth up to perfect and complete enlightenment, it is also without change and without conceptualization. As it is said: "O venerable Shariputra, just as the mind is without change and without conceptualization, so it is from the aggregates and so forth up to perfect and complete enlightenment." From the beginning of "mind and non-mind are naturally clear and luminous" up to this point, it should be understood that the distinction is shown from the perspective of the truth of the path. From the perspective of the distinction of the cause, why is it so? Because the Prajnaparamita, which is in accordance with the definitive distinguishing part of the common characteristics, is the cause of the three vehicles. As it is said: "In this Prajnaparamita, whoever is able to make the mind of enlightenment..."
