Because it is the antidote to distraction, it is pleasing to the ear. Because it generates samadhi, it makes the body tranquil. Because it generates great joy through vipassana, it satisfies the mind. Because it cuts off doubt, it gladdens the heart. Because it eliminates wrong views and uncertainty, it generates joy and happiness. Because there is no regret in practice, there is complete freedom from suffering. Because it is the basis for the perfection of wisdom arising from hearing, it should be fully understood. Because it is the basis for the perfection of wisdom arising from contemplation, it should be distinguished. Because the teacher teaches the Dharma without concealing the scriptures, it is completely clear. Because it makes beings who subsequently obtain their own benefit rejoice, it is that which causes joy. Because beings who obtain their own benefit should rejoice, it is that which causes manifest joy. Because it truly teaches the inconceivable Dharma, it is that which makes all understand. Because it truly teaches the conceivable Dharmas, it is that which makes one distinguish. Because it does not contradict valid cognition, it is reason. Because it teaches sentient beings according to their capacity, it is connection. Because it does not speak meaningless words, there is no fault of repetition. Because it terrifies all assemblies of tirthikas, it is the power of a lion. Because the voice is vast, it is the sound of an elephant. Because it is profound, it is the sound of a dragon. Because it is worthy of being received, it is the sound of a dragon king. Because it is pleasing to the ear, it is the song of a gandharva. Because it is sharp and terrifying, it is the sound of a kalavinka. Because it resounds far away, it is proclaimed as the voice of Brahma. Because it is known to precede all accomplishments, it is known as the sound of the jivamjivaka bird. Among these, saying "sound" is to understand that sound is the characteristic of revealing meaning. Saying "tone" is to understand its expression. Saying "resonance" is to understand that expression and the sound that follows it. Because it is not something to be surpassed, it is as pleasing as the voice of Indra. Because it precedes complete victory over all maras and opponents, it is the sound of a drum. With praise

Because there is no affliction from any source, there is no self-satisfaction. Because there is no dejection from being slandered, there is no arrogance. Because all the characteristics of all kinds are followed in all treatises on sound, it follows all sounds. Because there is no speaking from forgetfulness, there is no error in words. Because one always dwells near the activities of those to be tamed, there is nothing incomplete. Because one does not rely on gain and respect, one is not dejected. Because one is free from timidity, one is not weak. Because one has mastered the absence of weariness, one is exceedingly joyful. Because one possesses expertise in all fields of knowledge, one is pervasive. Because one perfectly accomplishes all the affairs of sentient beings, one is enlightened. Because there is no interruption, it is continuous. Because one dwells in various ways, it is related. Because multiple forms of sound arise from one sound, it perfects all sounds. Because one closely abides in understanding multiple meanings from one principle, one satisfies all senses. Because one acts as prescribed, one is not blamed. Because one is skilled in combining when the later time arrives, one is unchanging. Because one does not speak hastily, one is not rushed. Because those near and far hear equally, one is universally renowned. Because all worldly and transworldly matters are transformed into teachings, one possesses all kinds of excellence, as stated by the noble Asanga. The twelve aspects of the three turnings of the wheel of Dharma. The wheel of Dharma is shown by existence and non-existence. This is the three turnings of the wheel of Dharma that were not previously turned, namely, the noble truth of suffering should be fully understood. The so-called 'fully understood' and so forth, for each truth, the eye, knowledge, wisdom, and realization arise, therefore there are twelve aspects. Similarly, for each truth, the Dharma is consistent in three and twelve aspects, thus the twelve aspects of the three turnings of the wheel of Dharma are proclaimed. For which sentient beings the wheel is turned, it is shown that their existence and non-existence are prevented, therefore all sentient beings of the three times enter into nirvana without remainder.
