The ten powers of the Tathagata, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha, the gates of Dharani, the aspect of all things being without characteristics, the collection of treatises, these teachings should be known as the collection of paths. All those dharmas are included in the paths of seeing and cultivation. The collection of grounds, it should be known that it becomes ten aspects by the distinction of purifying the Bodhisattva grounds. Furthermore, Subhuti, as you said, how does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva enter the Great Vehicle, from practicing the Paramitas, from ground to ground? Why is that? Because the coming and going of all dharmas are blocked. Thus it is said. In what vast place, how many dharmas should be purified? The first ground is purified with ten aspects. With ten aspects of purification, the first ground is attained. Thinking and the nature of benefiting, equanimity of mind towards all sentient beings, giving and relying on spiritual friends, seeking the object of the true Dharma, the mind of constant renunciation, the joy of wanting to honor the Buddha, teaching the Dharma and truthful words, it is considered that these are the ten. By not observing these natures, it should be known as purification. Thus it is said. In the Sutra it is said, thus purifying the superior intention, is the yoga of non-observation, purifying the beneficial things, is the grasping of non-observing characteristics, and so on. Thus it is said. The second ground is purified with eight aspects. Moral conduct, doing good deeds and patience, great joy and great compassion, listening with respect and reverence, the eighth is diligence in giving and so on. Thus it is said. Therein, doing good deeds is doing more than what was done in a small way, because it is not wasting time. The third ground is purified with five aspects. Never being satisfied with hearing, giving the Dharma without defilement, purifying all Buddha-fields, not being weary of Samsara, being ashamed and having a sense of shame.

The nature of selflessness is those five. Thus it is said. The fourth ground can be completely purified by ten aspects, namely: dwelling in the forest, having few desires and being content, practicing the discipline correctly, not abandoning the training, criticizing desires, abandoning nirvana and all possessions, being fearless and having no views. As it is said in the sutra: dwelling in a solitary place, delighting in having few desires, and so on. Among them, having few desires means not desiring to obtain what has not been obtained. Being content means not desiring more than what has already been obtained. The fifth ground can be completely purified by ten aspects, namely: being close to and attached to family and home, becoming a noisy place, praising oneself and belittling others, the ten paths of unwholesome actions, being arrogant and conceited and inverted, being indecisive and tolerating afflictions. By completely abandoning these ten, one can attain the fifth ground. Thus it is said. Arrogance is conceit, which is the aspect of pride and so on. The sixth ground can be completely purified by six aspects, namely: generosity, discipline, patience, diligence, meditation, and wisdom being completely perfected. As it is said in the sutra: one should completely perfect the six paramitas. For disciples and rhinoceroses, abandoning the mind of liking and fear, not being afraid when begging, not rejoicing even when abandoning all possessions, not abandoning learning even when poor, one can attain the sixth ground. Thus it is said. As it is said in the sutra: one should completely abandon the mind of desiring to be a Shravaka, one should completely abandon the mind of desiring to be a Pratyekabuddha, one should completely abandon the mind of fearing samsara, and so on. The seventh ground can be completely purified by twenty distinctions. Grasping at self and sentient beings, life and the characteristics of annihilation of a person, name and cause and aggregates, realms and sources, attachment to the three realms, the mind is always depressed, attachment to the Three Jewels and discipline, and to the views of them, arguing about emptiness, and the faults that contradict it, if these twenty are completely cut off, then one can attain the seventh ground. Thus it is said. Whose que
