Through the generosity of conduct, beings' thoughts are followed as they wish, mainly to accord with their minds. Having possessions means that possessions are readily available as desired, so it must be obtained in order to generously bestow possessions upon beings as they wish. Having karma means that the actions of body and speech are readily gathered and abide as desired, which is attained by perfecting the perfection of discipline. Why is that? It is to encourage beings to engage in faultless actions of body and speech as they wish. Having birth means being born in the realms as desired, which is gathered together, so it must be obtained. Why is that? It is because the aspiration endowed with discipline is accomplished. Having faith, as one believes, the earth and so forth become objects such as gold, gathered by following their faith, which is attained by perfecting the perfection of patience. Why is that? Because in past generations, patience followed the faith of beings. Having the power of aspiration means that it is gathered by being truly accomplished as one wishes, which is attained by perfecting the perfection of diligence. Why is that? Because in the past, diligence was not abandoned for the sake of all beings. Having miraculous powers gathered by superknowledge is attained by perfecting the perfection of meditation, because in the past, one dwelt in meditation as beings needed. Having wisdom means that wisdom is manifested as desired, gathered by perfecting the perfection of wisdom, because in the past, one applied oneself to manifesting it as beings wished. Having Dharma means that it is gathered by showing what is desired, such as what is proclaimed by sutras and verses, which must be attained by perfecting the perfection of wisdom, because in the past, one proclaimed the sutras in accordance with the wishes of beings.

It is for application to the Dharma and so on. The ten powers are as follows: the power of knowing what is possible and impossible; the power of knowing the maturation of karma; the power of knowing meditative absorption, samadhi, and attainments; the power of knowing the superior and inferior faculties; the power of knowing various aspirations; the power of knowing various realms; the power of knowing the path that leads everywhere; the power of knowing death and birth; the power of knowing the recollection of past lives; and the power of knowing the exhaustion of defilements. The meaning of these can be found extensively in sutras such as the King of Dhāraṇī Empowerment. The four fearlessnesses are: If I vow that I am a perfectly pure Buddha, and someone says that these dharmas of yours have not been manifestly and completely awakened, then I do not see any reason to argue with me correctly. Because I have not seen that reason, I have attained happiness, attained fearlessness, and abide in fearlessness. This is the first. Similarly, if I vow that the defilements are completely exhausted, and someone says that these defilements of yours are not exhausted, then there is no argument with me, as before. This is the second. If I have taught the path of liberation to the hearers, and they practice it, but for the sake of completely exhausting suffering, for the sake of ultimate liberation, they do not liberate, then I do not see any reason to argue with me correctly, as before. This is the third. If I have taught the hearers the dharma of obstruction, and they practice it, it will not become an obstruction, then I do not see any reason to argue with me, as before. This is the fourth fearlessness. The three non-protections are as follows: The Tathagata's bodily conduct is completely pure. If someone else knows, the Tathagata thinks that it needs to be concealed. The Tathagata does not have completely pure bodily conduct. This is the first non-protection. Just as with the activity of the body, the activity of speech and mind should also be spoken of. The three close placements of mindfulness are as follows:

When the Tathagata teaches the Dharma, some listen respectfully, paying attention and bringing the mind of omniscience near, and if they practice the Dharma in accordance with the Dharma, the Tathagata will not be pleased, the mind will not be at ease, and the mind will not be distracted. Conversely, if others do not listen respectfully, etc., and widely refute, the Tathagata will not be angry, will not be impatient, and the mind will not be displeased. Some listen respectfully, and some do not listen respectfully, so the Tathagata will neither be pleased nor angry, because he always possesses mindfulness and awareness, and abides in equanimity. The nature of non-forgetfulness is that the Buddhas act for the benefit of all sentient beings, without missing the opportune time, therefore their actions should have results. Thoroughly destroying habitual tendencies is that acting as if one has not abandoned afflictions is here called the habitual tendencies of afflictions. For the Buddha Bhagavan, that too has ceased, therefore he is said to have thoroughly destroyed the habitual tendencies of afflictions. Great compassion is the thought of benefiting others, by which, at all times, three times during the day and three times during the night, six times a day, the Buddha Bhagavan separately observes the world. How does he observe? Who has fully ripened the roots of virtue? Who has not fully ripened the roots of virtue? Who is a vessel for showing higher realms? Who is a vessel for showing definite goodness? Who is a vessel for the wealth of Buddhahood? What should be done for whom? Thus he observes. The eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha are that the Tathagata has no confusion, no clamor, no forgetfulness, the mind does not abide in inequality, there are no various thoughts, there is no undifferentiated equanimity, there is no decline of intention, there is no decline of diligence, there is no decline of mindfulness, there is no decline of samadhi, there is no decline of wisdom, there is no decline of liberation, for the past, unobstructed wisdom arises without attachment, and for the present and future, unobstructed wisdom arises without attachment.
