Eighth, the chapter on the fruits of practice at the time of the Dharmakaya. Eighth, the chapter on the fruits of practice at the time of the Dharmakaya. Explanation of the Svabhavikakaya (Essence Body). Now, the Dharmakaya is to be spoken of, and it is to be understood in three ways: the Svabhavikakaya, the Sambhogakaya (Enjoyment Body), and the Nirmanakaya (Emanation Body). Because with regard to the Svabhavikakaya, the Svabhavikakaya of the Sage is: "Whatever faultless dharmas are, having been attained, are completely pure in every way, that which is characterized by its own nature." Thus it is said, being endowed with the sphere of dharma, the nature of being completely pure in all faultless dharmas, that which is the essence, by the meaning of being unconditioned, it should be known as the Svabhavikakaya of the Bhagavan. The term "essence" is known in the world as "unconditioned." The path that transcends the world is what causes it to be attained, but it is not the maker. Which are those faultless dharmas that, in every way, become the completely pure essence, the Dharmakaya? The factors of enlightenment and the immeasurables, the liberations and the successive states, the nature of the nine meditative absorptions, the nature of the ten exhaustive spheres, the spheres of mastery, divided into eight categories, freedom from afflictions and the wisdom of aspirations, and the direct knowledge of individual awareness, the fourfold purity in every way, the ten powers and the ten strengths, the four fearlessnesses, the three protections, the three mindfulnesses, the nature of the dharma of non-forgetfulness, the complete destruction of habitual tendencies, great compassion for beings, the eighteen unshared dharmas that are unique, the explanation of the eighteen unshared dharmas, and the all-knowingness, are called the Dharmakaya. Thus it is said, it is called the Dharmata-kaya (Dharma Nature Body) because it removes obstacles. Otherwise, the body of all dharmas is called the Dharmakaya, therefore the essence would be negated, and there would be the fault of becoming conditioned due to the meaning of action. Therefore, the statement of "body" should be understood as being a designation that follows the previous state.
