Regarding the aspects of enlightenment, such as mindfulness, and what has been said, it should be understood as it is extensively explained in the collection of paths. The immeasurable love and so forth are as explained in the entry into the immeasurable. The eight liberations are: one who has form contemplates forms, this is the first. With the perception of form internally, one contemplates external forms, this is the second. The liberation of beauty, having realized it with the body, one dwells completely, this is the third. The infinity of space, the infinity of consciousness, nothingness, and the realm of neither perception nor non-perception, these are the four liberations. And the cessation of perception and feeling, this is one. Thus, there are eight in total. Among these, exhaustion, complete severance, and complete enjoyment, the limit of this is non-existent, therefore it is infinite. The infinity of space is the infinity of space. The nature of the infinity of space is what has become the infinity of space. This is the reason for the name of space. In terms of the meaning of the support, this meditation has the state of having become the infinity of space, therefore it is the sphere of the infinity of space. Like the abode of the gods of the gods, the sphere is the state. Complete severance and complete enjoyment, therefore it is infinite in this. The infinity of consciousness is the infinity of consciousness. The nature of the infinity of consciousness is what has become the infinity of consciousness. This is the name of the consciousness that enters into space. As before, this meditation has the state of having become the infinity of consciousness, therefore it is the sphere of the infinity of consciousness. In this, there is no remainder of a part, or a slight residue, therefore it is nothingness. Its object is what has become nothingness. This is the name of being separated from the consciousness of the sphere of the infinity of space. As before, this meditation has the state of nothingness, therefore it is the sphere of nothingness. Because there is no coarse perception, and because there is subtle perception, the meditation that is similar to being neither having perception nor not having perception is neither perception nor non-perception. That is both not having perception and also, that is

Although it is not without consciousness, it is also existent. It is a source that becomes a category of the source of mind and the source of dharma, but it is not another source. Therefore, it is a source that is neither existent nor non-existent. However, in all of these, only true transcendence from the object of focus is attained, not transcendence from the limbs. For example, the first dhyana and so on, in the exhaustion of earth and so on, without abandoning one object of focus, but truly transcending from the limbs such as investigation, these are not like that. In these, the first is because it transcends the characteristics of form. Transcending space is the second. Transcending the consciousness that enters space is the third. Transcending the absence of substance of the consciousness that enters space is the fourth. Therefore, in all of these, only true transcendence from the object of focus is attained. It is not true transcendence from the limbs. By the power of equanimity and one-pointedness of mind, all of these have two limbs. Just as the four cloths of equal width woven from the doubts of coarse, fine, extremely fine, and most fine, although there is no difference in size, the latter is more extremely abundant than the former, the latter is more extremely abundant than the former, due to the nature of comfortable touch, thinness, and high value. Likewise, although these do not have differences in limbs, because they have become the nature of subtlety and tranquility, one should know that the abundance of the others compared to the former, the extremely abundant, and the most extremely abundant. The remaining explanation of liberation is, as stated, the complete realization of all aspects. The nine successive abidings are the four dhyanas, the four formless absorptions, and the cessation absorption. The ten kasinas are: earth, water, fire, wind, blue, yellow, red, white, the eight kasinas, as well as the kasina of consciousness and the kasina of space. Among them, the kasina of earth refers to the yogi who, having risen from the samadhi of the first dhyana, which has become mastered through practice, this absorption is the antidote to the obstacles of close abiding.
