Also, not considering the position as insignificant, and not despising it. The so-called respect and obedience to the guru is to take the guru's teachings as the first priority and want to do them, not just wanting to hear them. Not being satisfied with hearing, and, without defilement, giving the Dharma, purifying all Buddha lands, not being tired of samsara, shame and embarrassment, arrogance and self-importance, these five. Named: The great Bodhisattva dwells in the third ground, and should dwell in the five dharmas. What are the five? For example: Not being satisfied with hearing a lot, and also being attached to the manifestation of letters, etc. Living in the forest, having few desires and knowing contentment, and, purely and truthfully proclaiming the precepts, not abandoning the training, rebuking all desires, abandoning nirvana and all possessions, not being timid and having no sects. Named: The great Bodhisattva dwells in the fourth ground, and should not abandon these ten dharmas. What are the ten? For example: Dwelling in a quiet place, having few desires, etc. Among them, having few desires means not wanting to obtain what has been obtained. Knowing contentment means not wanting more than what has been obtained. Truly showing its nature means: The great Bodhisattva does not generate greed even for Bodhi, and this will be explained as having few desires. The intention here is to focus on one's own benefit, because this is a branch of most of the benefit of others, so it should be approached. Closeness and attachment to family, and, becoming a place of noise, praising oneself and slandering others, and, the ten paths of unwholesome karma, arrogance and complacency and reversal, hesitation and tolerance of afflictions. If these ten are completely abandoned, the fifth ground can be truly obtained. Named: The great Bodhisattva dwells in the fifth ground, and should abandon the ten dharmas. For example, completely abandoning being at home and being ordained and relying on, etc. Giving, discipline, patience, diligence, meditation, wisdom are completely perfected, and for disciples and rhinoceroses, abandoning the mind of joy and fear.

Having generated the mind, I will not be discouraged. Even if I give away all my possessions, I will not feel regret. Even if I am poor, I will not abandon begging. Thus, one will truly attain the sixth ground. This means that a great Bodhisattva abiding in the sixth ground should perfect six dharmas, namely, the six perfections. Furthermore, six dharmas should be completely abandoned. What are the six? The mind of a Hearer should be completely abandoned, and so on, as has been said. Clinging to self and sentient beings, life and person, annihilation and permanence, signs, causes, aggregates, elements and sense bases, as well as dwelling and attachment to the three realms, a mind that is always disheartened, attachment to views on the Three Jewels and discipline, diligence in emptiness, and faults contrary to this, when these twenty are completely severed, one will attain the seventh ground. This means that a great Bodhisattva abiding in the seventh ground will not have twenty dharmas. What are the twenty? Namely, clinging to self, clinging to sentient beings, clinging to life, and so on, as has been said. Knowing the three doors of liberation, the purity of the three spheres, compassion and lack of pride, the equality of dharmas and knowing one aspect, non-arising and knowing forbearance, showing all dharmas as one aspect, completely destroying all conceptualizations, abandoning thoughts, views, and afflictions, definitely contemplating quiescence, being skilled in insight, taming the mind, and having unobstructed wisdom in all things, not a place of attachment, going simultaneously to other fields as desired, and constantly showing the nature of self, these are the twenty. This means that a great Bodhisattva abiding in the seventh ground will perfect these twenty dharmas. What are the twenty? Namely, perfecting emptiness, preceding signlessness, knowing wishlessness, purifying the three spheres, and having compassion and love for all sentient beings, and so on, as has been said. Among them, what is the purity of the three spheres? As it is said, perfecting the path of the ten virtuous actions, this is the purity of the three spheres of a great Bodhisattva.
