Explanation of the Accumulation Practice Explanation of the Accumulation Practice The explanation of the accumulation practice should be done. It is said that it transforms into seventeen types through the divisions of accumulations such as great compassion. That is, the six, such as love and generosity, along with calm abiding and insight, and whatever path is combined, and whatever skillful means, and wisdom and merit, and the path, dharani, and the ten grounds, the antidote is known to be the order of the accumulation practice. Among them, the seventeen types of accumulation practices are these: namely, the accumulation of great compassion, the accumulation of generosity, the accumulation of ethics, the accumulation of patience, the accumulation of diligence, the accumulation of meditation, the accumulation of wisdom, the accumulation of calm abiding, the accumulation of insight, the accumulation of the combined path, the accumulation of skillful means, the accumulation of wisdom, the accumulation of merit, the accumulation of the path, the accumulation of dharani, the accumulation of grounds, and the accumulation of antidotes. Among them, the accumulation of great compassion is: the Bhagavan wearing great armor. How much is it called wearing great armor? It is made the master of the accumulation practice by showing the reason why that word applies to the great Bodhisattva wearing great armor. In each of the ten directions, the beings in the realms of the world as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River, the hell beings, the animal birth places, and the beings in the realm of Yama, are illuminated by the light of their own bodies, and pacifying that and that suffering, they obtain the opportunity to pay homage to the Buddhas and so on. By that cause, they rise from those bad destinies and until enlightenment, they take pure births that please and conform to the Buddhas. That is what is said, because the aspect of being free from suffering is compassion. The accumulation of generosity is that whatever beings desire that and that provision of food and so on, giving that and that provision of food and so on, and teaching the Dharma, until enlightenment, making them inseparable from the six perfections, that is what is said. The accumulation of ethics

The collection of is, only such sentient beings, from the path of the ten virtuous actions and meditation, etc., up to the eighteen unshared dharmas of the Buddha, are well established. And, whatever is said is that those sentient beings, too, until complete enlightenment, are established by not departing from the taught Dharma. The collection of patience is, if all sentient beings strike me with stones, sticks, clods, fists, and palms, and stab me with weapons, I will never generate even a little mind of fighting with them, thinking thus and well establishing one's own patience, whatever is said is thus. The collection of diligence is, only such sentient beings, because of generating a mind endowed with all-knowingness, cause the diligence of body and mind to be upheld and invested, and well established, whatever is said is by the combination of true determination, and well establishing, and the statement of meaning without deficiency, etc. The collection of meditation is, only such sentient beings, abiding in themselves, without seeing any dharma as distracted or undistracted, until complete enlightenment, cause them to be upheld and invested in this, and established, whatever is said is thus. The collection of wisdom is, just as oneself does not fixate on this shore and the other shore in any dharma, so also causes them to uphold and invest in this as it is, and to establish, whatever is said is thus. Among them, this shore is samsara, because only here do children feel happy. The other shore is nirvana, because those who value their own benefit feel happy only on the other shore of the diligence of practice. The collection of tranquility is, again, as oneself abides on the other shore, so also causes only such sentient beings, for the six perfections and the dharmas of the aspects of enlightenment, etc., from the fruit of stream-entry up to the eighteen unshared dharmas of the Buddha, and even for the Buddha himself, to be truly upheld and invested, and established, and to be focused on the realm of sentient beings being only so much and not completely cut off, etc., and at that time, for the perfection of generosity that closely accomplishes happiness, and for the discipline that closely accomplishes future happiness
